How to get Sound on my PS3 + PC hookup?

Hello,

I got GTA4 and hooked the PS3 to my PC monitor via HDMI to DVI to my monitor.

The monitor is connected to the PC via a USB cable. I have two monitors, one running the PS3 and the other running the PC windows screen. I am getting sound on my Windows screen, but no sound for the PS3 GTA4 game.

How can I turn the sound on for the game and not windows?

What kind of speakers do you have? I have a 2.1 Klipsch set and i have those plugged into my PC via the green audio cable, with my PS3 plugged into the speakers via audio port through RCA cables (white/red) and I have sound through whatever is playing audio.

sounds like you need to get a cord to get the audio from the PS3 to the PC. The HDMI isnt transporting sound being that its just to the monitor

I tried, . Never hooked the PS3 to the computer monitor but I do have output sound to my Onkyo from the PC

I went to Best buy and got the RCA adapters and the 1/8th adapter.

Used the provided PS3 cable and attached it to the two(red/white) adapters into the speakers and still no sound.

Has anybody actually done this? Connect PS3 to PC monitor and getting sound?..

I went to best Buy and the geeksquad guys were so sure that it was going to work but it didn't. So rather than taking theoretical answers. I am wondering if anybody actually has done this.

Well unless you have the mother of all mother monitors I dont think that you can have sound going through it, I could be wrong. the HDMI cable form my PS3 to my monitor only carries the picture and someone correct me if im wrong but i believe it wont carry the sound only picture. Perhaps take a picture of your monitor or link us to some details about it so we can help you better.

I got it working. Thanks guys. I just needed to change my previous HDMI to AV in the PS3 menus.
