Mortal Kombat was cheesy, corny, but I somewhat liked it. Though, as said, I doubt it will be on BLU anytime soon...

I'd consider buying the first for the same reason I'll buy TMNT if/when it's released on its own. MK would be for nostalgia with the fights and music being the high points. Nty on #2 though, and I won't buy a set if they use that ploy to try and get me to buy both.
