Default HTV Illuminate and their missing Film Restorations

Artisan PR dated July 13, 2009:

HTV Illuminate-Arts-Media-Entertainment recently used its proprietary “deep scanning” film restoration process to breathe new life into a pair of Hollywood classics. The brilliantly restored versions of “The Agony and the Ecstasy”, which garnered five Academy Award nominations in 1966, and the beloved comedy “Those Magnificent Men and Their Flying Machines” will be released on Blu-ray later this year by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.

The Briefing Room - A Virtual Press Conference

Has anyone heard what has happened to these film restorations which were to be released 12 months ago?

These upcoming Blu-Ray releases were also reported by Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits website. Apparently both films were completely restored and ready to become Blu-Ray releases... ???

Studios often have BDs ready to release for years. It comes down to when the marketing people think there is a good window to maximize sales. Looking forward to those films on Blu-ray.

Unhappy You may very well be right

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe the upcoming release of Ben-Hur could spark a release since it happens to be another Charlton Heston movie; or perhaps Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor and Rex Harrison? And Warners eventual release of The Great Race may provide the nudge to bring forward Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, being films along the same storyline...

Meanwhile we can dream at least knowing they are waiting in the wings.
