Default Universal's disc art.

Did they stop using actual art on the disc? i noticed my copy of hot fuzz and inside man doesn't have any. its just the title of the movie. every other universal blu i have it has a picture on the disc. i hope there not doing the same as paramount.

I know its something little and its not really that important, but its just something i like. just like slip covers.

I agree saprano! I also prefer the discs to have artwork on them.

I think they're trying to save ink. But Gladiator from Universal UK has printed discs.

I hear you. Fast and Furious was like that, and I imagine Van Helsing the same. Sure it's a little thing, but still a nice to have.

I still say Universal's menu's are the best. That cutdown simplicity works for me big time.

The dvd disc had no art on it. That may be the reason.

Children of Men and Inside Man are like that too. I find it lame, but whatever. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

I understand your point but like i said i like when disc have artwork on them. all of their earlier releases have art like hellboy2, changling, hulk, wanted etc. so im just wondering if they completely changed to this no art bland look or is it for some movies.

WB on the other hand still does excellent artwork for their disc. ironically.

For those that aren't aware, this is the type of disc art Universal used to use on their Blu-ray releases:

This is the type all of their Blu releases use since June 02, 2009:

Since June 2nd? It's been before that. I remember Frost/Nixon having that same disc art and that was April.

Anyways I think it's kind of lame, like Paramount's disc art. Whatever though, as long as I have the movie.

Meh, I couldn't care less either way. It's the movie itself I care about.

Really? I've heard from people whose copies of Frost/Nixon have the actual disc art.

Well, Universals DVDs haven't had any artwork for a while. But, I guess they've gotten cheap as well and stopped it on Blu-rays. Actually, most studios have dropped disc artwork from DVD, and so far Paramount has been the only ones to have carried this pattern to Blu-ray. Hopefully it's not something Universal will start as well.

They're trying to save a buck. I do love their menu's but oh well. It still looks better than the Paramount ones.

I agree. The Coraline Bluray would have been perfect if it only had disc art, an amaray case, and some decent interior artwork. I hope they don't do this with 9.

They must be saving literally a couple of pennies per disc with this BS. That is beyond cheapass. I'm paying for a premium product here, suck up the fraction of a percentage point in profit loss and give the customer what they want.
