I asked Warner Archives via Facebook about a remastered DVD/Blu of William Peter Blatty's, The Ninth Configuration and they replied saying that they had let the rights lapse. I believe that Blatty himself owns the film, though I could be wrong. In any case, the home video rights are up for grabs, so anyone from Shout!, Criterion, Olive, Twilight, Anchor Bay, etc ought to license it and do a 2k transfer, hopefully with the various cuts (99m, 118m, 140m) and input from Blatty and Stacy Keach who recently presented a 35mm screening of the film.

It's a film that I love dearly, it's such a unique, bizarre, moving piece of work. Far more interesting to me than The Exorcist.

"I've finished a new non-fiction book that's part funny memoir and part proof of life after death. It's called NOT A HORROR NOVEL, A Wild Ride in Search of the Soul. Also, The Ninth Configuration is presently being converted to Blu-ray. Cemetery Dance is planning publication of six of my screenplays [note: listed in a previous update], including my first draft of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST. We're casting THE EXORCIST play in hopes of a Broadway run. Next week I MIGHT have some word on THE EXORCIST mini-series. I'll tune you in."

Sir Henry, this is awesome news!!! made my night reading this! so, depending on the cover they use for the bluray, i might create my own custom cover.

I'd be interested in that custom art, Bytor, thanks! It's a pity that the soundtrack was not included as it has never had a CD release. Barry De Vorzon's scores were amazing back in those days.
