Default Harry Potter ATPS sound issue?

Anyone else have issues with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone? It was super quiet. I had it at a volume that would normally rattle the pictures off the wall and it was just comfortable - didn't even wake the baby.

I'll have to see if said baby played with the receiver but I was also pretty disappointed in the PQ for such an effects heavy movie. Bright scenes were fine but dark scenes were really disappointing.

My copy of Philosopher's stone plays just fine, i had my volume at the normal level and it sounded like the rest...you might want to see if your reciever was messed around with, or maybe you got a faulty copy?

As for PQ, i did find that the first 2 Harry Potter films did look grainer and softer then the later ones, but i wouldn't say i was dissapointed as i saw an improvement over the DVD versions. The first 2 films have always seemed different from the rest of the series anyways, i'm glad chris columbus chose to leave the series after CoS, i'm asuming his DP left as well or if it is the same guy for the later ones he adjusted his style or something because part 3 - 6 look radically different in terms of lighting and focus

i have not seen it on blu, i have the entire collection on HD-DVD and all of them play just fine in DTHD. perhaps you should do a search in the forum post under movies to see if anyone is having the same issue using blu.

I'm wondering how the sound on the HP films compare between the Blu Rays, and the HD-DVD releases. If the Dolby True HD sounds better, I might double dip, and buy them on HD as well.

I'm sorry, I live in America. What the hell is a philosopher? I must be too dumb to understand that word.

(just a little jab at WB, couldn't resist)

What soundtrack are you playing DOLBY DIGITAL or PCM ? The DOLBY DIGITAL is quite low but the PCM is quite loud.

I think they are both Dolby True HD so, they should be the same, should be! They sound incredible on HD-DVD, thunderous bass and incredible surround sound; I love it. Plus, I bought them all for under $25, not the set, but all 5 individually since the demise of HD-DVD. of course when the most recent makes it's way to home video, i will be buying blu; really won't have a choice since i for the most part don't buy dvd anymore!

Don't blame WB. You should have said. I'm from America. A philosopher! That's so not interesting at all. Now a book about a sorcerer, that is cool.

Scholastic Corporation bought the USA rights at the Bologna Book Fair in April 1997 for US$105,000, an unusually high sum for a children's book.[14] They thought that a child would not want to read a book with the word "philosopher" in the title and,[29] after some discussion, the American edition was published in October 1998 under the title Rowling suggested, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.[14][30] Rowling claimed that she regretted this change and would have fought it if she had been in a stronger position at the time.
To the OP, either your receiver is messing up the signal or you have not enabled multi-ch uncompressed PCM.

This is something I worry about all the time. How often do I have to fiddle with the audio setting on movies? Why isn't it always set to uncompressed? I'll check it out tomorrow. I was really annoyed.
