Wall plates with speaker terminals>

I am going to run some speakers through the wall and was wondering if I need to cut a huge hole behind the face plate for my speaker wires? For example light switches, electrical plugs, cable and phone wires have huge cutt outs for junction boxes behind the face plates, or would it be OK to just leave a big enough hole for the speaker wires themselves. I just want it to look as professional as possible. Even though I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, I am pretty good at little projects. If an one has any tips I would be greatful for your input.
