Default Def Tech Mythos Line Questions?????

Hello guys I have already searched the forums and have not found much info on people who actuallly own the myhos ST or STS line. The internet has excellet reviews of the two lines. There are very few comparisons of the 2 lines. But I was wondering what people who actually own them think. I am interested in the STS because my father has 4 ST's in a 7.1 surround system and they sound gorgeous but I cant afford 4 ST's but I got a decent deal on 4 STS and a full 7.1 setup from a def tech dealer near me, also I love the look and size of these speakers along with their sound. So any info of people who own any of the 2 lines would be much aprecciated!!!

I own the Mythos ST's, and several other Mythos models, and they are extraordinary speakers. The look is unique, and the sound is incredible.

While the ST's are terrific set up as full range speakers, the subwoofer performance isn't all that great - don't configure them that way. You'll be fine with the STS as main speakers (left and right) or get Mythos Ones for your mains, and move the extra cash to a strong subwoofer.

All Mythos speakers sound terrific. Get bigger speakers if you're filling a large area. I mix speakers and change configurations all the time - but in my main HT, the ST's act as surrounds, with Mythos Eight's as on wall rears. In another HT, Mythos Ones are the fronts. Don't go broke, you don't need to buy the most expensive units.

Check out 6ave.com for the Mythos One's. They have a great deal going on them as long as the silver finish is OK with you. I was going to order a set but the wife put a stop to it

Well thank you Blu Dog I got a decent deal on 4 sts and a mythos ten and 2 Mythos gem xl and a denon 4308ci im going for a total overhaul, Im not sure if I should go for the super cube reference or the supercube I. My limit is 10,000. but if i was to get 4 ST's it will go over that limit. The 4 STS keep me under that limit. What are you pushing it with. My father has 4 ST's with the full surrounds I just mentioned and a denon 5308ci and amplifiers as well and 2 supercube I's.The sound is unbelivable I have never heard anything like it. but why would you need amplifiers if you already have a built in amp in each tower? How much better would it make the mids and tweets sound? Ill be picking up my system around the 17th. Ill post pics when I do.

I'm pushing all of my Mythos gear with Pioneer 84-TXSi receivers (I have two separate HT's) and the Pio is rated at 140 watts RMS per channel. It's plenty. On the HT with the ST's in it, they do surround work; I have a pair of Sonus Faber Domus speakers as the fronts, powered by a B&K amp, so the receiver is powering up only the center speaker (Mythos 10), the ST surrounds, and two Mythos 8 rears. Absolutely incredible sound.

The other theaters uses the Mythos Ones as fronts, with a Mythos Three center and rears. Surrounds are a pair of Vienna Acoustics Bachs I had sitting around.

For the main HT, the sub duties are handled by a JL Audio Fathom - all that's needed, believe me - and the smaller HT uses a Klipsch 12.

The STS units are absolutely fine. As full range speakers, you will love them - just awesome, and very, very efficient.

Wow where did you get you jl fathom. I have been looking every where online for the jl fathom f13. But I cant seem to find it anywhere if I could find one of those I wouldn't mind slightly going over budget well a Little more than slightly but thats ok. I think that the f13 would move quicker than the supercube reference for music but i think 2 supercube 1's would match even better for music along with the sts. My setup right now is about 50% HT and 50% music so its a tough decision if I get the def tech subs either supercube I or the reference I will eventually get 2 of each but 2 jl fathom f13's would have to just be 1 because 2 would be too expensive.

Are you going to use the 4308 as a pre/pro? You mentioned amps in one post so I was not sure. For the price of the 4308, you could maybe look into separates.

Just a thought.
