Ps3 Freezing When Whatching Blus!

my ps3 has been freezing at times when im watching my blus..its standing in the upright position and theres not dust in it or anything i take good care of it..check out its postion in my hometheatre pics..and give me some tips on how i should maintain it...but if anyone knows whats going on with it plz let me no

the blue-diode laser might be going bad that reads the discs (correct me if that isn't what its called). Your discs don't have any smudges or scratches does it? If still under warranty I'd send it in for repair just in case it is a sign of things to come.

Have you tried to lay it down to see what happens? When I first gotten mine I had placed my PS3 in a space that was not big enough for it to lay down, but to only stand up.

It froze on me a few times back then, but I didn't know if it was the Heat, standing upright or even if it was that blu movies.

I took it out that spot and place the PS3 flat, I haven’t played that movies since and it's been a few years without any freezing.

I guess I told an unnecessary story, but just lay it flat and see what happens.

ahh damm..do you know how long ps3s warranty is?...is it like the 360 with a 3 yr warranty?...cuz its 2 years ..will be 3 yrs by xmas..like im watching a movie right now..it seems to be going ok..im about 20 mins in with no problems

Lay it down flat with plenty of ventilation/space around it and have the latest update (3.0 available now). The warranty is 1 year for the ps3.

yupp just froze on me again ... if i send it in how much would it cost to replace ?
and where could i get hte 3.0 update?..when was this update released?

You can get it now, I updated mine about an hour ago.

It was released tonight. You update it by wifi/network cable in system settings. I think you can download it from the ps3 website also and put it on a usb flash drive. I think the repair cost is $150 for the ones out of warranty. I'm holding off on the ps3 slim to see if its reliable over the course of time. Even then I'll probably get the best buy 2 year extended warranty for $40.

Good luck my friend. Just a side note if you connect wirelessly it may take a few mintues to sign in just give it a few and it should. A few other noted having this problem after the firmware update.... So don't freak out...

I too have experienced this.

I watched Quantum of Solace yesterday using firmware 2.80 and it was fine. Tonight I got 20-25 mins through Casino Royale and it started freezing. Had to power my PS3 down and eject the disc, then re-insert it just for it to recognise the drive. Tried Blade Runner and it was skipping from the word go. This is a 40gb PAL PS3 (upgraded to 500gb drive), and is around 18 months old.

I have a launch 60gb PS3 also (with a 320gb drive), and am testing it now.

I feel (and also hope) it is Firmware 3.0 which is causing this.

Time will tell, I guess.

Another person I know has experienced this as of the 3.0 update, and his PS3 is 5 months old.
