"Speed" Playback issues on PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

I tried to watch my copy of "Speed" on bluray today on both of my PS3s. It took over 5 minutes to load and then when I was finally able to select the disc from the main menu it gave me an error saying the video could not be played. I then tried the disc in my Sony Laptop and it played. So I was wondering if anyone has had any other problems with this disc. The funny thing is I played and watched this movie a couple of years ago when I first purchased it and it played fine. Now it won't play.

I just popped the disc in and it loads just fine, but in the main menu would stutter a bit (which is strange) but the movie itself plays fine. For reference, I have an original launch PS3 from 2006.

I've heard rumors of disc rot that's causing some Fox titles to become unplayable.

no problems here except the awesome sound track that my neighbors hate

There's an older thread about this: the first pressing had playback problems with certain machines (I had one of them too). They remastered the disc and fixed the problems. I forget how to tell them apart, probably by UPC code. You should be able to do a search and find the thread.

just tested my copy out, works fine on my PC...but i have heard of some disc rotting issues with fox discs...
