need some phone help please! (can't get it to play ringtones)

First off, here's my phone info:



I can't get my phone to accept a ringtone and apply it.

If I go on myxer and send a ringtone to my phone, I can accept the text, and it'll PLAY it in a little phone media player thing, but there's no option to apply it to the phone or anything.

If I click "GO TO LINK" or "SAVE LINK TO PHONE" it'll just open up a media player and I can play it. The only options then are close the media player or pause.

Anyone able to help? The myxer site says I can get a ringtone, and the sprint salesman says my phone is a newer version than he has, and HIS has ringtones on it (he has the same type phone as me, only older).

I'm frustrated beyond belief at this. lol

How do you upload ringtones to your phone would be my first question?.

Bluetooth? USB? It all makes a difference. For my phone I use Bluetooth and could easily change it to be a ringtone, I also upload songs to my phone through USB connection. Some could work others don't depending on the format.

I send them through texts.

and I don't have any cables or any of that stuff for the phone. I just rely on sending the ringtones through texts through sites like "myxer"

dont even waste your time, unless you are making your own

$3 for a 20 second or less clip, is absolute highway robbery. how this is legal pricing, and people still bend over and accept it is beyond me

oh I'm absolutely NOT paying for a ringtone. lol

These are free clips I've found online.

To be honest with I have never done this through texting. I have done it through the steps i mentioned earlier.

Tell me about your computer's feature's the answer for your problem could be there:

1. Could you upload the file to your computer.
2. Does it have a Bluetooth capability.

and as such.

I may be able to find a solution to this through your computer.

I have a Dell E1505 Laptop.

I don't know about the bluetooth on the computer.

I enabled the bluetooth on my phone today, and tried to connect, but it asked me for a PIN (????????????)

I just entered in the password to my wireless feed that I have set up for my PS3 to connect to the internet wirelessly, but it would never connect.

It'd find it on the phone it was listed as something like PC and a buncha numbers.

And I can upload to a phone uploader thing, but it will either send as an "attachment" or as a "text"

I can't get either to work.

As I said it won't let me apply the ringtone, it'll just play it in some dinky media player.

Bluetooth pin is always 0000 unless you changed it. (lets hope you didn't) What I want you to try is to download the ringtone to your computer (use the bluetooth feature on the computer if its there first just check it) if you do have a bluetooth feature on your computer then you are set, all you have to do is send it to your phone through bluetooth (if it asks you for a password just use 0000 for both and lets hope you didn't change the password accidentally).

Let me know if this works.

just tried to add it (via my phone) and it says "pairing failed" after entering 0000.

I JUST enabled it today and have never entered a pin.

I've NEVER done anything with bluetooth on my laptop, and didn't even know I had it.

if you have on your computer then the 0000 pin works for both of them you just have to enter them on both pairing devices.

Turn on the Bluetooth feature on your computer as well, when it asks you a device had been detected it will ask for a password as well as the phone. The Pin for both is 0000, see if this works.

I read somewhere that the bluetooth is optional and the adapter may not be installed? If not why would it show up on my phone?

Go to control panel and search Bluetooth and tell me what you see for the results.

under "file name"? I searched bluetooth under the filename part, and it got zero results.

Trying to reinstall the drivers. not sure what they are.

I use a mac so my memory on windows based computers is a little off. I will try to find another person's opinion about this to help out.
