Default Is Atlantic City still a nice place to spend a few days at?

I am off the last week of August and I was thinking of spending about three nights at Atlantic City during that week. The last time I've been to Atlantic City was around 10 years ago. I heard a lot has changed since then due to Hurricane Sandy and that there is not much there anymore. I heard it's really sad there compared to the way it was 10 years ago. So I'm not sure if it's worth spending a few days there to check it out.

Has anyone been there lately and can recommend whether or not it's really worth spending a few days there?

It really depends what you are looking to do.

We've spent overnight for leisure to see a show and stay overnight so we don't have to drive back.

They have some great places to eat, shows usually Fri-Sunday. I looked really quickly, and Amy Schumar and Ken Jeong is going to be performing at the end of Aug/beg of Sept.

We might get in Fri evening have dinner, see a show, the next day, walk the boardwalk, shop and then go home.

Again, it's up to you what you are looking for. Cape May is a little further down but can be expensive, Wildwood a town up is a little cheaper.

I haven't been to Atlantic City in several years but last time I was there some of the casinos had been shuttered, which made the visit a little depressing. Trump owned half the real estate but he's since sold off much of it (or all of it?) and online gambling and the development of other gambling meccas have taken a big chunk of business away so it's not what it used to be. I've been tempted to visit again but the thought of losing a couple hundred bucks in the slot machines scares the crap (no pun intended) out of me. The slots don't even dispense actual money anymore - just boring vouchers.
