I am mostly a beer (homebrewed or microbrewed) drinker, but I have a well-stocked bar and enjoy high quality cocktails, especially classics. I love Martinis, classic style, with Vermouth, but I like blue cheese stuffed olives. I also have recently rediscovered the Manhattan and have been loving the heck out of them (I have my own home made maraschino cherries for garnish).
As a general mixer, at this point in life (this can change) I like Campari. I adds a nice bitterness to just about anything. I've done a lot of tastings of gins, Bourbons and Scotches. I'm not a big Scotch whiskey fan, though I can appreciate. I love Bourbon, and for sipping strait, I choose George Stagg (uncut). For gin, which is in many of the best cocktails, I prefer Plymouth. Though Hendrick's is nice, if you want something very floral or fruity. I stay away from Bombay. That's a marketing job. |

more into beers and shots. but I have a soft spot for TGV so I make that once in a while (Tequila, Gin, Vodka with 7up and ice), but some times it could be a Caesar.

kinda hard to find but I recently started using a cachaca from brazil called "Leblon". it's a sugar cane liquor. best way I can describe the flavor is a light white rum with a hint of a top shelf tequila in the finish.
new cocktail I've been drinking in the heat and entertaining(went great with round of croquet last night) with that people seem to love: mint muddled with sugar, no sugar added white grapefruit juice, and cachaca served over ice. very refreshing Caipirinha: muddle lime wedges with some sugar, add cachaca and ice. it's the national cocktail of Brazil ![]() I'm kind of a professional alcoholic so I love all spirits and they all have a time and a place for consumption. ![]() Last edited by Teabaggins; 07-06-2009 at 07:14 PM. |

Man we gotta hang out!
caparina's are better EDIT: Just saw Teabaggin's post...... My Brother-in-Law is from a beach community in Brazil (been here 2 years now) and he brought back Cachaca with him when he came here...... first I had heard of it (and I worked at a liquor store for 5 years in college) and now I know where has it, etc... even a few bars have it around here now. Bulleit bourbon and practically anything. Water, sprite, coke, pinneapple juice, apple juice, white grape juice, but i prefer ginger ale or if i can find it, the elusive ginger beer.
Did Teabaggins just say he was playing croquet last night? ![]() I had no idea he was so sophisticated. Last edited by Riff Magnum; 07-06-2009 at 11:25 PM. |
