Was hoping for the late 80’s Dennis Hopper film.

I wonder why they changed the name from The Education of Fredrick Fitzell though, especially since that's what it was using when it premiered at some festival, Flashback is kind of generic.

Because a studious, pretentious, ‘70s-ish title like that would be box office poison.

She looks like a dried up meth head throughout this entire movie. So don't buy it just for her.

As someone who is in love with Dylan O'Brien and will watch every single thing he's in until we both die, I found this film extremely disappointing. It's slow and boring, and ultimately confusing. It's one of those films that pretends to be smart but makes no sense. The editing is choppy and 80% of the scenes are very poorly lit you can barely see what's going on.

I understood it well enough to get a story out of it, but the mom stuff at the end just didn't make sense to me in the context of the movie... and the writer seemed to care more about coming off weird and/or profound to really tell a cohesive story that makes any kind of sense.

But, you know, it at least was better than Infinite... where DOB only had maybe 5 minutes of screen time for the whole movie and should be skipped.

A “Say No to Drugs” PSA by way of a collision of THE MATRIX with JACOB’S LADDER, FLASHBACK would have even more resonance if it leaned as deeply into its characters as it does its labyrinthine plotting (as such, it fails to fully earn the emotionalism it tries to wring from its closing moments), but nevertheless remains a wild experience with an even wilder thesis—that happiness comes via imprisonment. Rented it from Redbox, returned the rental, immediately drove over to Walmart and bought the BD. 🤣 It may be a Lynchian wannabe, but sometimes, that’s enough.

I haven't gotten around to this one yet, but the director's previous movie The Conspiracy is one of the best found-footage / faux-documentaries I've ever seen. Highly recommended for horror fans. I'll be checking out Flashback soon.

This movie was awful and a chore to get through. Major disappointment after how good The Conspiracy was.

The mom stuff really flew over my head.

So all of his emotional problems and flashbacks to childhood are....because his mom yelled at him that one time?

Honestly feels like they could have just cut most of that and it would have been fine.
