Default Best Movie Twist of all time?

I mean best twist , NOT best movie with twist.

That's huge difference. In many lists Sixth Sense is in top 5. But this is only because movie is famous. Twist wasn't that good. It's rather predictable.

So, what are best movie twists of all time? Most unexpected? Most cleverly hidden?

Yeah. I agree it was shocking. But IMDB was kinda cheating us for many years. Genre of this movie was always crime/thriller.

I went with Psycho, Oldboy, and Sleepaway Camp.

Psycho was just too infamous, with two very good twists. The ending is iconic.

Oldboy is one of only two movies I was so shocked that I had to rewind it just to watch it again and make sure I had actually just seen that.

Sleepaway Camp I also had to rewind and watch again. But even better than Oldboy, Sleepaway Camp also deals with some pretty deep themes and is culturally relevant. Sure, it was played mostly for shocks and the movie itself is schlocky, but considering it was all children actors and very few movies at the time dealt with LGBT themes (let alone acknowledging the existence of trans people), it is one of very few slasher movies that could be studied.

Honestly though Sleepaway Camp is the best twist.

I kinda want to say Barton Fink, but I'm not sure it counts as a twist. But you know, how It's a movie about a semi-likeable but also pretty pretentious writer struggling with writer's block and developing a romance with the wife of an acoholic man who used to be his hero and then
[Show spoiler]She gets murdered by his neighbour who turns out to be a crazed sociopath

Gotta say, that was one moment in a movie that completely took me for a turn.

Oh, and I voted for Sleepaway Camp. There were a lot of good choices up there, but SC -- it's sort of in a different plane. I still remember my reaction when I saw it for the first time.

A couple of these I can't even remember the twist, so I guess I'm not voting for those... I actually went with Sleepaway Camp, even though objectively I wouldn't call it the best, or even near the top of the list; but it's the one that really "got" me the most when I first saw it as a kid.

The twist I can keep watching over and over is shawshank. Primal fear, Chinatown and prestige remain my top 3 twists. First saw is definitely a fifth for my top five list.

Oldboy takes the cake for me. Incredible disturbing, yet so damn innocent and beautiful.

Fascinating.

I had to vote for The Planet of the Apes just because it is sort of the Godfather of end of move shocking twists.

Some really good ones in your poll list.

I agree that Planet of the Apes is the daddy of them all so to speak, with The Empire Strikes Back being a close second.

However, for me in terms of surprise value and impact (probably because the two I'd already been aware of before I saw them I think) it would be between The Usual Suspects and Memento.

I've voted The Usual Suspects because the whole movie builds and builds to that moment and really delivers.
