My 2013 DVD and Blu-ray shopping list is about a mile long - it always seems to be, lol. But, here's the strange thing: 99% of it is made up of obscure titles from small independent labels. Seriously, the only big studio title on my list is THE GREAT ESCAPE, which I still can't technically put on my list since it's still only in rumor status. OK, before anyone says "what about Criterion" or "there's always Warner Archive", I'd like to stress that I'm talking about big, mainstream and popular movies like The Great Escape on commercially-released media. I'm glad that MOD is still going strong but even those titles are fairly obscure and only available online. Also, lots of stuff are "rumored" to be coming out, like The Abyss and Schindler's List, but it's killing me that there's no solid info on practically ANYTHING at this stage. Come on, the holidays are over - time to get to work, studios!
