Default What band game will last in the long run.. ??? And what complete set to go with?

Well GH is handing over too Band Hero, and is going back to sole guitar.. SO its RB vs BH...

I love RB. the online play and menus are so much better, but BH might make a good run at it..

what do you all think?

on a side not , I am trying to decide what band set to get and there are a few options right now, and i cant figure it out..

i have RB 1-2, and GH SH, wt, metallica, and 5 ..

so .. wait for the band hero set? @ $199

get the entire RB2 set for $99

or wait for RB 3..??

isnt Band Hero for family oriented gaming? Not that that is bad but as far as the setlist goes it can't be too hard. But I don't know anything about the playing levels, easy medium hard or expert if that's on there or not.

"ABC" Jackson 5 [10]
"American Pie" Don McLean [15]
"Black Cat" Janet Jackson [16]
"Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" KT Tunstall [15]
"Dirty Little Secret" The All-American Rejects [10]
"Every Rose Has Its Thorn" Poison [15]
"I Want You To Want Me" Cheap Trick [16]
"If You Could Only See" Tonic [16]
"Just a Girl" No Doubt [17]
"Let's Dance" David Bowie [15]
"Love Story" Taylor Swift [3]
"Picture to Burn" Taylor Swift [3]
"Oh, Pretty Woman" Roy Orbison [16]
"She Will Be Loved" Maroon 5 [4]
"Sugar, We're Goin Down" Fall Out Boy [15]
"Take Back the City" Snow Patrol [18]
"Take What You Take" Lily Allen [10]
"Thnks fr th Mmrs" Fall Out Boy [19]
"Turn Off the Light" Nelly Furtado [15]
"You Belong With Me" Taylor Swift

Ignore the numbers at the end. This is according to Wikipedia

I personally love RB 1 & 2. A lot of different songs, more you can buy online. Online gameplay is so much better.

I mean check out the setlist for RB2 if you haven't already and see if you wouldn't mind playing the songs.
But I have to go with RB2, but check out/find out more info about BH first before you purchase. RB3 probably won't be out until next year at the least.

Don't forget about RB: Beatles!

Personally, I'll be buying all additions to the Rock Band franchise. Harmonix has been far more supportive of their franchise as far as allowing the consumer to customize their play experience. Red Octane has done nothing but pillage the wallets of their fan-base with the Guitar Hero franchise by constantly offering non-compatible installments.

I'm even on the fence regarding Rock Band: Beatles If the songs cannot be imported to Rock Band 2 like the Rock Band 1 songs were able to, so that I can access ALL Rock Band content via one disc, I may actually skip it all together.

I will never touch another Guitar Hero title again. Their attitudes towards swindling their trusting fans along with their severely unrealistic overcharting of songs makes their product far inferior in my eyes.

I think you'll see both game series kind of fizzle out around the same time. I don't really think its really the question of who will out last but more so how long will people stay interested in the games before it goes the way of DDR.

Me too. I am not buying Rockband Beatles because what is the point of only doing Beatles songs if your downloaded/rb1/rb2 songs can't be played at the same time.

Sucks

The nice thing about guitars/drums/mics is that any set you get will work all band games. So as far as peripherals go, use whichever ones you like best. I could recommend some depending on your budget.

I think it's clear that Rock Band will last longer. The ability to combine the 2 games (and possibly future installments) into one big song library, along with the massive DLC library keeps things fresh and fun.

Music games seemed fad-like when they first appeared in Japan, but nowadays I couldn't picture the gaming world without them.

I still just have the original Rock Band set (now with lots of DLC songs), and I really haven't felt compelled to go beyond that.

I completely agree... my first game was guitar hero 3, which I loved, BUT since getting Rock Band its been a totally different experience. The fact that GH didn't let me export those songs, and RB did, led me to RB2. So far I've liked it much more than GH and love the DLC that comes each week. It lets me pick and choose the songs I want play as opposed to having to buy an entirely new game, with half the songs I'll never play.

As for the Beatles Rock Band, I would love to pick this up and play those songs. The only thing is that once I play the 10-15 songs I like a few times, its rare that I'll play this seperately from Rock Band 2, so the importing of the beatles songs is a huge factor. Maybe I'll just rent it if I can't export the songs.

I can see where Harmonix is coming from though, because everyone would simply rent the game and export the songs if possible as opposed to buying a new game. Hopefully at some point the will be exportable but I don't think they will be right off the bat.

Add to that is the fact that I personally think the character/set designs for the post-Harmonix GH's have been really overdone to the point of obnoxiousness.

The only thing I don't like about the two is that when there's songs you can buy online then it ends up being on the next RB or GH. For example: No Doubt's 'Ex-Girlfriend' you can buy for RB and now it's on GH5. At least pick different songs even if it's by the same artist.

I have quite a few of the Guitar Hero games plus Guitar Hero Wold Tour Complete Box on PS3.
I also have the Rock Band games which includes Rock Band 1 complete band in a box on PS3.
And I got an email today saying that my order has been sent for Rock Band: The Beatles complete set on PS3 so that huge box will arrive tomorrow which I am looking forward to.
There are loads of great songs on the disc and also as advertised they are going to be making The Beatles albums downloadable for play on Rock Band.
The first complete album is Abbey Road which could even be available for when game is released tomorrow. Can't wait for Sgt Pepper complete album

i didnt know that.. i thought you could only use , RB drums and mic's with rockband , and visa versa.. In that case, im gonna pick up the rockband kit for sure.. only 99 bucks , including the game? even tho its all older , you cant go wrong, then if the instruments change for RB 3 , i wont feel as bad about blowing only 100 , instead of 180, and it will give me some good practice and ill be able to get trophies for the drum and mic , finally

like you said, and another poster said, i wish they would just join RB and GH together, would make for such a better game.. Especially whern you consider half the time you buy a gh or rb , 1/4 of them songs will be on the next game.. and it seems like everytime i buy a track pack , or set of songs they end up putting out a new entire game.. i spent probably $30 on like 12 country songs to later see a pack of like 30, for $30

they really know how to make $$$

You must be specific when stating these things.... those albums you specified will only be available for Rock Band: Beatles, not Rock Band in general. You will have to be the owner of the Rock Band: Beatles software. AGAIN, this means that any Beatles content will only be accessible as part of its own setlist. You will not be able to play Beatles material along with anything that has been previously released with any other Rock Band installment.

I go with Rockband all the way. They have supported the DLC from the start and made RB1 songs exportable. Guitar Hero hasn't done as well on the DLC and I hate the guitar hero controller. I got Guitar Hero World Tour and never even played it.
