Default snow with onkyo rec!?!

hey guys. so i finally received my AVR/speakers and have everything set up. i have the tx-sr507 receiver, hooked up with directv. for some reason, when i am switching back and forth between channels with harmony 520 remote, i get 2 secs of a snowy screen with audio. it then clears up and i can see the hd picture. is there something in the settings i need to switch? my tv is set for auto, my directv settings are set the way they were prior to having the home theater system. please help! thanks in advance fellas!

Handshaking. You could try a different HDMI cable if you have one, but more than likely it's not something you can fix. Your cable box, receiver, and TV seem to be a little slow on the handshake. I get this a lot when I switch over to my PS3 and back from my cable box.

It looks like HDMI sync issue with one of your components. Do you have the same issue with the blu-ray player when connected via the AVR. Do you have the same issue when the cable box is directly connected to the TV set. In this way you may be able to workout where the issue is.

I had to change a setting in my DirecTv box by turning "Native" off when I got my new AVR to prevent this from happening. Have you tried this?

hey guys, thanks for the help! i have a 1.3 HDMI going from ps3 to AVR, another HDMI from directv to AVR and finally one from AVR to TV. would this be happening because one is 1.3, and others are not? hey forsberg, i will get that done when i get home today and see if that helps

There is no such thing as a 1.3 HDMI cable. It's the devices themselves which must be 1.3 compliant. The HDMI cable can either handle the signal or it can't. Calling an HDMI cable "1.3" is just marketing, usually meaning it can handle the higher bandwidth requirements of 1.3 devices. So, unless you have some really crappy HDMI cables this shouldn't be the source of your problem.

We all were rookies at one point. Well, except for Big Daddy.

Do few tests with and without AVR and with different settings; and report the results. Always switch off all components when connecting/disconnecting HDMI.
