Hey guys

I'm new to the Blu-Ray experience and could do with a little help.

Got home today and set up the Blu-Ray player. The audio is going to my existing surround sound system through optical - but there's a slight delay. This wasn't a problem any other time (for TV, normal DVD or X360) but I can't seem to get it right for Blu-Ray. I've changed the AV delay on the surround sound but doesn't seem to fix it.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this so I'm hoping somebody can help me in the right direction? You all seem a friendly bunch anyway!

Welcome to the forums, Suffolk In Ace.

You can always check to see if there's an adjustment for synching audio to video in the player's setup options as well. It might be nice to let everyone know what particular brands/models you have in your chain of components. What Blu-ray player? What receiver? What TV? You mentioned optical connection for audio. In what manner does the video signal get to your TV?

This information can prove very helpful for the many here who could be very familiar with your particular component models.

Enjoy the forums and have fun! There's a lot to learn here, and beware the 'upgrade-itis' bug which is very hard to avoid!

Blu-Ray player is Samsung BD-P1600
Connected to Samsung LE40A557 TV 40" 1080p via HDMI
Connected to Samsung HT-Z310 (DVD player with 1000w 5.1) via optical (only has HDMI out unfortunately) I then turn the DVD player on and change it to Digital In mode for the audio.

I don't think there is any options for adjusting audio sync on Blu-Ray player itself.

Thanks for the welcome - yes there IS a lot to learn!

I'm a little disappointed nobody could help but it turned out to be a simple problem. It was the specific BR disc (Die Hard). Casino Royale works perfectly.
