Default Has anyone gotten a letter/email published in a magazine???

never saw a thread like this before and it will hopefully give a nice alternative to the gladiator bashing and "what is XXX's best movie" threads that have been popping up lately.

i have a subscription to entertainment weekly and a thought hit me, has anyone written in to a magazine, whatever kind, to voice your opinion or comment on an article and had your letter/email published in the community/opinion/whatever-it's-called section???

i never have but was wondering if i was maybe reading some blu-ray forum members comments.

Metal Edge magazine(mail bag section) back in the early 90s...

I asked what Alice Cooper's album titles and years were... pre-internet

Also, a few years back, an email of mine was put on TV for being critical of ppl who were against Sunday Shopping in Nova Scotia... hehe... i called them hypocrits for going out for coffee and lunch after church and expecting ppl to be working to serve them although they had a problem with malls being open on Sunday HAHA was awesome!

Closest I have to anything like this was when a forum post I made on Kotaku, regarding homophobia in gaming, was quoted by a speaker at a symposium of several gaming execs.

Nah...most of the letters received by magazine editors go right in the garbage. Waste of postage if you ask me. Email them to save on the $ lol. Very low risk of getting published.

I'm supposed to be interviewed for a local magazine regarding my photography. Does that count?

I was mentioned in an issue of Toyfare for meeting some guy who played a Klingon in some Star Trek movie or show. It doesn't have a pic of me but it does have my name in print.

I've had a few e-mail letters published in a PC magazine or two. But that was years ago when I bothered to write.

Over 10 years ago I was a video game reviewer for a web site. It was actually a cutting edge thing to do back then. I ran into the creator of that site here and he told me that we were pioneers because the idea was new. It evolved into some other web site and I lost track of it. But I do know my reviews stayed in the archives for a very long time because of their quality.

So yeah, that is my small part in web history. How I miss DOS games.

I've had about 3 ideas turned into Dilbert strips when I submitted them to Scott Adams. He always replies with "Thanks for the idea." when he uses them. I see them in print days later.

There was a letter I sent somewhere once, but for whatever reason I can't think of it right now (shows how much I care I guess).

I remember as a kid, my brother drew a picture of Bret Hart wrestling someone, and sent it in to WWF Magazine, and a few months later there was an interview with Bret Hart, and in the photo, hanging behind him on the wall, was the picture my brother drew (along with a few other drawings other readers presumably sent in).

Also as a kid, in the early days of AOL, my dad downloaded a game for me to play, and I ended up writing a letter to the guy who made it. Skip ahead a year later, and a sequel to that game was released, and when playing through it, I came across a cottage, and inside there was a book, which, when opened, had a fake note signed by me.

Does it count if you used to write for the magazine? lol.

I know the editor was always swamped with people trying to get their articles in, especially since it was a car magazine.

As with most things, I think it depends on who you know.
