Transporting Lcd display

I'm planning on moving back to Canada from Arizona and I'm wondering if it would be alright to transport my lcd display on it's back for that long of a journey? Phoenix to Toronto to be exact.

that's a pretty long trip. I always had this question to but I also think about when it was delivered to the actual store. It was probably on its back on the big truck to best buy for example. I also seen some of those boxes on their back at best buy.

i helped move my brother-in-law and we moved his standing up on it's pedestal w/a piece of cardboard between the screen and the back of the front seats of the van.

i'd say if u're driving, try to fit it in standing up and protect it as much as you can.

or go to a store like best buy or wal-mart and ask them if they have any boxes from displays laying around and package it back up for the trip.

I have the original box, problem is i'm trying to conserve space and it would save alot of room without it! Won't fit in the back of my crew cab cause my 160lb mastiff will be riding in the backseat.

i'd have to say if faced w/the choice of conserving space vs. getting your tv moved w/o any issues, i'd have to go w/the tv....esp. if it's a tv u like.

if u want to get rid of it, swing through WI on your way up to Canada and drop it @ my place!!!

r u moving by yourself or do u have a significant other?? b/c u can always throw out something of theirs!!!

otherwise use this as a time to upgrade something and leave something big behind and buy it brand new when u get moved!!!

I guess it would come down to how much you luv your TV....making room for it, even in a big box, would be a must if you luv your TV. You could try sitting it up straight and protect it as much as possible from scratches and from falling over without the box. I would feel better over such a long trip if it were in the box, but I understand your situation.

PS Get a smaller dog (I had an English Mastiff - they are awesome, gentle giants).

If you have the original box, please use it. That's what I will do. The original box is designed to protect the TV set. That is the best method to transport.

Use the original box and lay it flat. It'll be fine as long as you're cautious in your drive. The only concern is that you could crack the display from the extra stress/weight if you hit a bump.

Now supposedly plasmas need to not lay flat. I have heard that if you lay them flat that they must be stood up 24 hours prior to turning them on. This feels like a myth but it's what I've heard.

thanks for the input guys, i'll have to see if I can fit the box in the back with the speakers etc? Only problem when you have a short bed.
