I do find it interesting that it's for both systems, but not a PS1 game.

Trailer (flash) I resized the playback window to approximately match the gameplay portion with PSP screen res like the screenshots below. Apart from the earthy bits, I think it looks fantastic.

A remake of Game Arts’ late 80’s transforming robot shooter is coming to PlayStation Network. PSP owners can pick up Thexder Neo on October 1 worldwide.

Thexder Neo has revised graphics, an easy difficulty setting, and an online mode that supports up to six players. In Japan, the game will cost 1,000 yen ($11).

Pricing for North America and details about a possible PlayStation 3 version, which the ESRB says is in development, were not announced at this time.

Wow, this brings back memories. I recall playing Thexder on my Apple IIgs back in the day.

Might be worth it for the right price. I'd rather spend my $ on this than that new TMNT atrocity.

Are we even sure it exists? Keep in mind all the PS1 games also show up as ESRB-rated for PS3 and PSP, but it's only 1 actual app.

This (shown so far) is a PSP game, not PSone. It won't play on PS3.

But Square Enix is also adding an easy mode, additional stage bosses, and other elements.

Most notable among the additions is a new online mode. Six players can compete to see who can make it to the goal the fastest. This is real online infrastructure, rather than the ad-hoc we've all gotten used too.
