Default Panasonic's new 85" NeoPDP Pro (TH-85PF12U) out in Oct/09

At a list price of $30,000 this is not going in my living room anytime soon, but for boardrooms, high-end bars, etc., this panel looks to be the new standard in picture quality following similar specs as the V10 series.

http://www.panasonic.com/business/pl...%2091609%203PM

1080/1080 motion resolution
3.9" panel!!!!

Quote:

A stunning 85" high definition professional plasma display that delivers the elegance and superb image quality for any installation - whether it?s in a boardroom, classroom, hotel, restaurant, or digital signage environment - while providing full integration in an automated environment.

This new 12-Series HD plasma display - the TH-85PF12U will be the first of our professional displays to incorporate our NeoPDP™ technology, enabling the display to be larger, thinner, lighter, and more energy efficient. Approximately the size of four 42-inch displays, the TH-85PF12U is only 3.9" (99mm) thick and weighs approximately 286 lbs (130 kg). Power requirement for this unit is 120V AC.

Our professional plasmas are known for their world class image quality and the TH-85PF12U will be no exception. The unit will have an improved contrast ratio of 40,000:1 (2,000,000:1 dynamic) and the ability to display the equivalent of 6,144 steps of gradation, providing deep black levels and accurate colors that will give the image a higher level of depth.

The versatile 85 will be able to support a wide range of applications. Large enough to display a life size image of a person, the unit will also incorporate our multi-function slot architecture to support just about any video input signal that may be required. The TH-85PF12U will come standard with the TYFB10HMD Dual 1080p HDMI card, the TY42TM6A component card as well as a fixed PC input. Also, this unit will be equipped with anti-glare glass as standard.
For those that can't afford this but want a big panel, the 65" S1 series ships for $2,600 from Vanns, zoinks!

Pretty awesome. Nice to see Panny staying serious about plasma and continuing to work the technology.

Yeah I saw that one too, pretty funny. Maybe the rest of the house is off kilter?

Someone not too skilled with the old AutoCAD there.

This is a good start. I expect 40" to 60" norm will be shifted to 60" to 100" during next few years. Most people will be able to experience an immersive panoramic picture and fully benefit from the blu-ray 1080p capability. When the screen is large, it is practical and easier sit within the sweet spot of 1080P to experience an immersive-panoramic HD picture.

Do you think this new TV includes any of the newly-purchased Pioneer technology? When all the Pioneer Elites are gone, I want to know what the best-of-the-best TVs will be. I know Panasonic is not far behind, but are they of the same Pioneer standard/quality?

So much for Pioneer. I'm gonna have to start playing the lottery.
