InterActual Player - Blu-ray Forum

So I was just checking out this older DVD again, which is packed with extras.
Of which one thing is the DVD-ROM-part for InterActual-player.

I already knew this from years ago.
But for a while it's been pretty dead, like the website doesn't even function well anymore.
I also read somewhere that the InterActual Player (on PC) is for when a DVD-player doesn't support it.

So the first question I have is, were/are there DVD-players that had this feature?
I think I ever saw it on some DVD-players, it probably wasn't that popular.
Now it comes across to me as some early or DVD-version of 'BD Live'.

But then, seeing BD-players can do so much more,
would they also open up the InterActual-player and/or DVD-ROM-features more?

I remember a lot of Universal titles having it.
