Default remote game storage?

A question for those with more than one PS3 in their homes; how do you juggle your game saves? Especially when some can't be copied?

It got me wondering whether it might be better for games to save locally during play, but when you finish it actually uploads your save to a Sony server somewhere; that way if you later logged on using your other PS3 it would download your save to that console when you ran the same game?

It would also mean that, in the event of a console breakdown or, God forbid, theft, your games saves are all safe.

That is a good idea but it is not supported or possible currently.

If someone at Sony has the same idea, then we could see it as it would cost very little to do (cost will probably be passed to us) and it would be an advantage over other consoles.

Well, not sure how little it would cost. They would basically need a storage server farm and since they don't currently charge for PSN it would be a new out of pocket expense for Sony.

Exactly. At this point, the only thing you can do to back-up those non-transferrable save files is to do a System Backup

I didn't realize there were some that you can't copy. I would just use a thumb drive to switch between them otherwise.

What are some examples for future reference that can't be copied?

Capcom games are a good example of ones that can't be copied. I tried to copy my data of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 but it's protected also Street Fighter 4, and Resident Evil 5.

That maybe true as long as you use the same user account but even so it has trophies like win this many matches, or do this this many times, and so on so yeah you would have to restart

I believe they patched RE5 so you can copy the saves now.

I know Killzone 2 you can't copy either. My old PS3 broke and I couldn't back it up.

What is the purpose of not allowing you to back up your saves?

Basically they are trying to prevent people from cheating in games that have unlockable things and also prevent trophy scumming. Think about how much easier RE5 would be if you copied someone's save that already unlocked the infinite RL.

I only play games that need saves in the living room ps3. the bedroom one is for movies and games like wheel of fortune from the psn. But I have not played rockband 2 since I got my new ps3 and moved the old one into the bedroom. Anybody know if you can now copy over the rockband 2 save file.
