Default I thought HD-DVD was no longer available?

Hi all I live close to central Pa, And a new store opened up in what we call Monroe Market place. It's called 5 below. It's basically a not so geniric version of a dollar store. So I went to the movie section to just see And I coulodn't believe what my eye's were actually showing me. Actual HD-DVD's for $5. I cna't remember exaclty what the titles were but there like 2-3 titles and like 10-20 copies of each. I couldn't believe it.

HD DVD's have stopped being produced but retailers continue to sell whatever left over stock they have.

Im sure someone out there is still making cassette tapes too. LOL

I actually heard there was a movie coming out on HD-DVD exclusively. Not kidding. Some low budget zombie film.

The "Five Below" in my area had some WB HD-DVD titles. Could be good if you are interested in the Red2blu program.

redtornado, see the link in the post above yours.

Of course, that release is more of a publicity stunt to draw more people into buying the movie.

Sadly, HD DVDs are no longer being produced by major studios at this time. Toshiba licensed the technology behind it to China who wanted a more affordable HD disc format. The Chinese format CBHD is not compatible with HD DVD players nor are HD DVD players playable on CBHD.

There is still stock of HD DVDs and so long as retailers are willing to sell them, you can still find them.

Same goes for other formats of entertainment.

About a year and half after Pioneer officially stopped Laserdisc production, they offered all stock of Laserdiscs direct from them at huge discounts. Any stock not sold was destroyed.

In 1998, I found a couple of VideoCDs from Philips (Ghost & Dr. No) in an out of the way Circuit City. Philips officially stoppped producing VideoCDs in the US years earlier.

Now the one format that truly will not die is LP, Tower Records even has it in the system as an option for special order.

You are correct, sir. http://forum.dvdtalk.com/hd-talk/560...-2-hd-dvd.html

Though some think it's just a publicity stunt.

I imagine if HD DVD had some sort of technical advantage for professional use it may have stuck around for awhile like Betamax. But no one has any use for it because it has no redeeming features except end user delivery.

Basically, they manufactured many more discs than they could actually sell, so multiple copies are still available (I've seen combo discs in my local Kroger).

Of course it is. They received 380 emails wanting an HD DVD! Whoa, stop the presses, clearly HD DVD is on its way back.

Five Below is basically a kid's dollar store - like a lively, big Spencer's gifts with seasonal merchandise...

When you find movies or games there, that is pretty much closeout discount stock being sold off very cheaply to stores that can move them - better to sell than destroy
