Butt-dialing Blackberries --- is it just me?

About once a week, I'll get a string of back-to-back-to-back-to-back calls where I answer the phone, and all I hear is shuffling, some muffled conversations, etc.

It takes me until the second or third call to realize I've been butt-dialed by someone on a crappy Blackberry.

Does this happen to you?

Are you ever the cause?

I know people are giant Blackberry nerds and can't stand to be in a car, restaurant, toilet, etc., without being glued to it, but damn it just seems like it could lead to trouble.

I'm nowhere near the top. lol

One time, a guy here butt-dialed me twice from Morocco at 4:00 a.m. my time. I let the call go for quite a while the second time.

It's quite possible. Or maybe z*******, and they're good at reverse butt-dialing.

It isn't hard to lock a Blackberry (or any cell phone) so this doesn't happen. I have never butt dialed with my Blackberry because I have a button programed that I can push and lock it.

Why would you put a phone like that in your back pocket? Seems stupid. My BB is in a holster.

America, as a whole, has too much junk in it's trunk to try and put blackberries in the back pocket and not expect some serious butt dialing

I can't imagine many people are putting their phones in their back pocket, I would assume most of the "butt-dialing" is actually when a phone is in a front pocket. I know the only time I ever accidentally made a call was when I had my phone unlocked in my front pocket. In addition to the risk of breaking the phone it would also be very uncomfortable to have a phone in your back pocket.

This problem is "big" enough that they had a commercial making fun of it a while back. So, no OP, it isn't just you.

Yeah it's an older BB and I use the official RIM holster. Plastic and it can rotate around. Phone automatically locks when placed inside and the screen shuts off.
