Thought I would share with everyone the quickest way for certain people to update their network-enabled Blu-ray players...
As my TV provider is AT&T U-verse, an IPTV provider, I found myself wondering if the ethernet adapter on the back of the U-verse box was capable of delivering an IP signal to my Sony BDP-S360. I dug up a simple $3 patch cable, connected it to both my U-verse TV box and my BDP and immediately had an IP address on the BDP. About 10 minutes later, firmware update 7 was ready for download (it should be noted that the Sony I purchased at Target, last week had version 2 firmware). I imagine this will work for all AT&T U-verse customers, as well as any other IP-related TV service (e.g., Verizon FiOS), as long as the BDP's manufacturer is streaming firmware updates. Hope this helps someone out there... |
