As some of you know there were rumors going around that the US Bestbuy's would be getting these. Here are the SKU#'s for the following 8 Steelbooks.
9650937 Bug's Life 9650891 Cars 9650955 Monsters Inc. 9650946 Nightmare Before Christmas 9650946 Pinocchio 9650991 Ratatouille 9650937 Sleeping Beauty 9650982 Wall-E All of these have a $34.99 price tag on them. Not sure if there will be a sale price on these. These according to the RSS screen will all be released on Dec 8th. I didn't see any SKU's for any of the Pirate movies, so not sure if they will be available same day or at a later date. Also I asked a manager if they would price match Futureshop on these and she told me if it is the same product they would but YMMV. Consider yourself extremely lucky if you get to buy these in one day. The 12 weeks of Futureshop has been quite a failure for the most part and too stressful.

Im guessing the other skus will show up on day of FS release. So next would be pirates to show up..thats just a guess.
$34.99 is steep as 3 of these were $26.99 CAD. After conversion thats almost $10 difference. |

Here's the thing though. We all thought that the FutureShop ones were limited? Could you imagine what the US would be like? With more stores and a bigger nation, fewer copies could be in the stores.
And besides... at least some of the Canadian ones still have that nice little ![]() ![]() |

So, shouldn't this be advertised in all of the Best Buy flyers for next week? When does that come out?
Where I live, I get the Future Shop and Best Buy flyers on the Thursday prior to the sale week. I would expect that if this Best Buy 12-weeks of Disney Steelbooks is a go for the 8th, you should see an ad in their flyer at the end of this week. Still, it is odd that they would release them all at once. It is a lot for a Disney consumer to pick up all in one week. |

I am somewhat surprised that if BB US was going to run a promo like this, they haven't advertised any of it yet (online). I would imagine that it should be advertised in print this week if it is due to be released next week. |

I would rather go each week and pick up a title. |

I recognize a few of the usernames around here from over at the Future Shop Community Forum, which I also recently joined (under the same name).
While it isn't surprising BB is apparently going to release the same Steelbooks, I have to admit to a little bit of dissapointment. One of the really great aspects to these Disney steelbooks (aside from the fact that many of them were among my favourite films) was the extremely limited nature. I'm not the type of person that buys multiple copies so that I can scalp on eBay for crazy prices or anything, but I have to admit it is a nice feeling having something kind of unique. Still, they are wonderful cases for the most part and I don't regret buying them. The 12 Weeks program at FutureShop was my first real foray into Blu-Ray Steelbooks (the only one I ever actively looked for prior to these was Iron Man, but I had no idea the way they sold out back then, and I came into the store around noon which was far too late). I learned from that experience, though, and have had zero trouble getting a copy of each of the Disney Steelbooks at one of my local stores. It's even gotten to the point over these past few weeks where a few of us that show up all recognize eachother, and there's even one person I've struck up conversations with on multiple occassions now. It's amazing how Steelbooks can bring people together ![]() I'll never be a hardcore collector, though. I'm going to stick to movies I like, rather than buying Steelbooks for the sake of their being Steelbooks. On that note, I definitely left Angels and Demons alone on the shelf (and there were still at least a dozen copies when I was there this morning for Cars). It's the lowest-common denominator in the literary world (not counting works like Twilight, which are in another class completely... literary diarrhoea), and I have zero interest in actually paying for a copy of it. That said, District 9 and Inglorious Basterds are on my list. It's been a rough few months on the wallet :P |

I always get the flyers on Sunday so I usually wait for a leaked ad.

I initially suspected that Best Buy would get them in since Snow White showed up, but then nothing happened after, and the flurry of Disney steelies started up north. I'm glad to see that they will be coming. I don't know what I'm going to do if they do release them all in one shot. There are only 8 listed, and with the 2 we already have (Snow White and UP), the only 3 left would be the Pirates trilogy. Getting 8 in one day might not be that bad, but it's going to be hard on my wallet.
I don't know how I'd feel if this were reversed, if US got them all initially, and then Canada wound up getting them later down the line. I don't think I'd be disappointed or upset at all, and I would probably be happy since they would be easier to obtain for all those that want them. I'd also be glad to see all the scalpers leave them in the stores for Collector's since they most likely wouldn't command such high prices when they first come out the way scalpers love to see. Things would have been so much easier had someone, anyone, say with certainty that this was going to happen. People from outside Canada would have just waited instead of paying high prices for 'em. As for the flyer, it usually shows up on-line somewhere as early as Wednesday, so we may know something by tomorrow (or later today actually since it's already Wednesday for me).
