Default MTV broadcasting in 1080i on DirectTV

For all you lucky folks out there who have Direct Tv and a HD package with them, another HD channel has been added. I watched the MTV music awards yesterday morning and was stunned by the clarity. The next showing will be from 2:00am till 12:00pm tomorrow. Check it out! ! ! ! !

cool stuff - I'm a-watching tonight.

Though I wish this was the MTV back in my heyday... all NIN videos, grunge and Beavis and Butthead. That would all be glorious in HD

TNTHD is a gamble. I know one thing remember the Titans Sucks in TNTHD. However movies like walking tall and Exit Wounds arent bad.

I think so. Unless a "ball game" (like you yanks call it) is on, the movies are TV versions... and more often than not are not in the correct aspect ratio and are stretched to fit the screen. Ugh.

I'd sooner watch a good Sony movie in HD... on the Universal HD channel (go figure that... but that's business I guess)

I've had that channel on Verizon FIOS, for like 6 months, DirecTV is outdated compared to what Verizon is offering, plus a lot faster internet.

Verizon is laying fiber lines in my portion of Maryland now and a few months down the road we will likely be offered the opportunity to subscribe. I've been sick of our local monopoly Comcast for years now. How do you like FIOS?

Sorry, just a bit off topic.

Although to me MTV in high def is a nice idea I think it falls flat. When was the last time anyone saw a full music video on there? Now they have a crappy movie based on My Super Sweet Sixteen, a show about whiny ass rich kids. Sorry but I will pass on this.

I believe Comcast has had this for some time...

Comcast owns the local sports games (except football) ...so I am strong-armed into this decision..

it's not what you think...

they replay alot of the same stuff...but they have alot of live performances in HD and then they'll play some videos in a group...

but there's definately alot of live stuff...

I rarely watch it...even with the live content and different feel than any other MTV channel...it still plays alot of stuff I don't like..

A friend of mine has this channel on her cable service. I enjoyed it so much I emailed DirectTV about adding it. Guess it worked!

Caught a preview showing of it this morning......Dixie Chicks gig. It was actually that old VH1 series "Story Tellers". Clarity of the channel is stunning. Can't wait til it becomes a permanent fixture.
