Question A Question About Bluray

Hey everyone.

I was recently watching a bluray of Harry Potter in a Dixons store. When I was watching it, I noticed everything was moving alot faster than usual (eg. people were moving fast). I then watched an episode of Peep Show on Channel4 HD, and that was the same - it moved fast.
What's this all about? Why do things move faster? I couldn't watch a whole film of things moving fast like that, it just seems stupid...maybe my TV and the one in Dixons were just bad or something?

Cheers

maybe they had that feature that newer LCDs have which makes everything super smooth and gives the impression that it's going faster than usual.

Was it on the demo Samsung LED TVs?

I've noticed the display they have in the local PC World, which has an LED with a plasma and LCD to each side, looks like the picture on the LED is moving too fast. It isn't but it's almost like the update is just too quick and your eyes aren't used to it.

You're in the UK?

It's called PAL speed up, it's usually 4% faster than would otherwise be the case.

It sounds like motion interpolation. I would recommend turning it of.

Its not this as this doesnt occur with blu ray.

Depends on how the Dixons store was converting it for the displays and what refresh rate the displays were capable of.
