Default Canadian V US

What are the best Canadian releases(region free) either available or not available in the US? I will be there for a week, so I was wondering if there is anything I should pick up...

Canada is region A too, so you've no worries regarding region free/locked.
There are very few blus here not available to you, the only one that comes to mind is Amelie.
don't bother buying canadian blus unless it's ONLY available here, they're typically more expensive and suffer from crammed bilingual packaging.

There's also the Blade films... i heard they're not the best blu-rays though.

Alliance has released quite a number of titles that are "exclusive" such as the Blade films, Lost in Space, Fanboys, plus a bunch I can't remember off the top of my head. The only problem however is that many are bonus free, and at least in the case of Lost in Space, the video is only 1080i and not full 1080p.

There are some Canadian films, also Alliance has released a few Miramax and NL films not available in the US. Prices here can be higher, on the other hand there where a few that where lower then in the US. It will all depend what store and what specials there are.

PS your best bet on finding what movies are out is the Canadian sub section.

There are some movies released by Alliance up here that have not been released in the States yet. But be careful, what Alliance blus you buy because some are 1080i and some are the wrong aspect ratio. I suggest checking this site before buying any Alliance titles. Also most of them don't have special features.

I suggest picking up Nightmare on Elm Street, and Sin City (2 disc collector's edition). Even though Sin City is available in the US, the Canadian cover art is way better in my opinion. Also pick up any Futureshop steelbooks that you don't have.

The first 2 are good. But the sound on Blade trinity was really bad. During the first 2 I had to turn down the volume a few times because it was very loud and clear, which is good. But on the 3rd I found myself constantly turning the volume up.

I recommend picking up The Illusionist and From Dusk Till Dawn. Both decent Blu-rays with lossless sound and 1080p. Neither will likely see a U.S. release anytime soon.
