Bit odd this ain't appeared in the US/UK but I think it got caught up in the Universal/Vivendi (StudioCanal) split. Always loved this and although I have the HD-DVD I'm interested still in the Blu-ray.

The Benelux/Netherlands disc seems to get pretty good reviews:

I really enjoyed this film, and definitely would order a good bd release.
are you saying Universal no longer has the rights for a US bd release?

I actually thought it was a great film -never understood the negative comments. All concerned done a great job.

I don't know if Universal USA own the home video rights but they certainly don't own the film as such. Like I said it's one of many titles left floating around with the break-up of Vivendi-Universal.

I will also be very interested to hear what you think of this release. I think it's a great film and would love to have it on a good-quality BD.

Edit: Those two reviews indicate that the transfer is 1080i rather than 1080p, and the running time is only 161 mins instead of the correct 167 mins. This indicates that it's been based on an HD broadcast master. Also it appears to be just a BD25, which is stretching things a bit for a film of that length. I think I'll wait for a proper 1080/24p version.

Got the disc -it's 1080i and seems to be multi-region. I couldn't fully test this. The 1080i will cripple this release for most people in the US/Canada of course.
