Default Matching subs question

Was wondering if I already have a Def Tech Supercube 1 and want a dual sub setup, does the second sub have to be the same brand, size, and all that ? Can you put different brands and woofer sizes together ?

You will find it much easier to setup and get a much better response if you do. No one's saying you have to do it, but it is advised. Please read Big Daddy's sticky on subwoofer placements and characteristics. This question is addressed and explained.

Edit: I just checked out your gallery - very, very nice setup by the way. You will certainly benefit from adding a second sub.

Edit 2: Sorry, should have also put in this link. This is the one that really addresses this question. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=48286

Thanks progers13 ! Well I was debating on either adding a Paradigm Sub 12 with the Def Tech or just selling the Def tech and getting 2 Sub 12's....decisions decisions

Decisions indeed! I just got my first Elemental Designs A2-300 sub - it was a very welcome upgrade to my previous Acoustic Research 12" sub. I've done some rearranging in my room to make space for a 2nd A2-300. Whichever decision you go with, I'm sure it will be the right one for you. You clearly have a good handle on what you're doing. If you put matching subs on opposite sides on the room in the middle of the wall like you have now it will sound phenomenal. Just remember - upload the pics when you do!

You can do it like progers states and per BD's sticky. I have an SVS sub with a lil' ole Polk one and I have them playing together rather well. I basically use the Polk sub for the higher end of the low frequency range and let the SVS do it's thing and punch out the real low stuff!

I think I will go with the matching Sub 12's and sell my Def Tech. I'll put them exactly there (in the middle of the room on each side). Thanks for the tips and I will post pics but it will be in a couple of months. I have to get my CC690 first

I could also do something of the sort but I think I'll just go with the matching equipment. All Paradigm, all the way

I've heard the Paradigm Sub 12 and it is a beauty. More importantly, it will round off your Paradigm setup as the sub is part of Paradigm's "recommended system" for your speakers.

While I envy your speakers, I admit I don't know much about your Pioneer receiver, particularly its power rating. Although Paradigm speakers are very efficient, I was wondering whether or not you would benefit from an amp(s) to drive them?

Most people I know don't need an amp with that receiver, especially at the size of my room. It's not small but it's not huge.
