It always amazes me how nice the Mirage speakers look compared to a lot of other speakers. My dad used to have JBLs before his B&Ws. I would think the Mirage's would be smoother with better mid-range and depending on the boominess of the JBLs and those 8" looking woofers, the mirages may be even better detailed. But since I have never personally heard your JBLs I cant really say exactly how one will sound compared to the other. That you will have to be the judge of. But every Mirage speaker I have heard has been smooth and pretty well detailed.

The large woofer on your JBLs may overpower the Mirage speakers..... I remember with my dads, they were just over knee high with 10-12" woofer and 3.5" midrange and 1.25" tweeter or something like that.... They definetly got loud, enough to piss off some neighbors. Like I said music was loud and powerful but movies were just horrible compared to the B&Ws, and music on his current 603 S2s is powerful and greatly detailed. I would expect that you would get about the same experience.

Congratulations, I hope you enjoy the Mirage speakers and let us know what you think after you have them broken in in a few weeks.

I would think the JBLs would not need a to be run with a sub and the mirages would. I have not bought a sub yet. I would think there would be no comparison since they are totally different. I wanted some newer speakeras and the mirages caught my eye and Ilike the idea of the tweet's The reveiws I have read said they should fill the room better. I do like a good sound seperation, I shall see.

I always liked this design of these Omni's 550's. I knew Vanns had a kick butt sale on them, which I was thinking about grabbing.

Anyways, love to hear your thoughts on them versus your JBL's.

I imagine they would sound nice musically, but not in the bass.

The really cool thing I like about those 550s is the imaging they have and you really do not need find a sweet spot. Heck if I remember right they even sounded nice being behind the cabinet. LoL.

I still say your JBLs are the better speaker overall, but I am sure you enjoy those 550s, even more if added a subwoofer.
