Default Persona 4 out 12/08!

Yes, I know it's a PS2 game and not for our beloved PS3 but personally I'm more excited for this than any other RPG yet for the PS3 since FF13 and White Knight Story seem so far away yet. It's one reason why I think BC is such a good thing

Valkyria Chronicles looks great and I love Disgaea but after Persona 3 I've really loved the style Atlus injected into the game. Check out the trailer for P4 below if you want to see what I mean:

http://kotaku.com/5022349/persona-4-...se-is-december

Now, I just need them to announce a MegaTen game for the PS3

I am not sure if this is the same Persona game that was released for PC years ago. If it is then count me in as another interested one.
I remember that game, it was very original in the design and gameplay. Are previous Persona games available on PS2 still? I hope they release them for PS3 with updated graphics though.

I don't understand it.

Why won't they make these games for PS3 with nextgen graphics, sound, and content?

So sad they are not making enough JRPGs for PS3.

Because they spent -alot- of time and money on the engine for the PS2.

And the game, only needs to be using the PS2 resources.

I've never heard of the Persona series being ported to the PC so maybe you're talking about a different game? The Persona series is definitely different from most JRPGs though. Darker (but not extremely dark) stories and a modern-day setting rather than the usual pseudo-fantasy stuff. How's shooting yourself in the head to summon your special powers do for being different ?

Persona 3 FES should still be relatively easy to come by for the PS2 since it released just last April. At 30 bucks retail it's a great deal for a 130+ hour enhanced version of what is regarded as one of the best PS2 RPGs ever (the original version won several RPG of the year awards in '07).

Persona 4 looks to be similar to P3. When it was first announced, everyone expected it to be on PS3 but Atlus probably thought the installed base wasn't big enough yet to justify it - and with over 120 million PS2s (and growing still) out there it's hard to argue with them.

Thanks, FF for the response. I remember playing the game where the action was taking place in a modern city. You start as a kid, have to go to the school, museums, bars, shopping mall etc to find clues about the secret clan that had some ominous plans for the city. I remember I loved that game a lot. I will give the P3 a try.

Ah, good ol' PS2 holding down the RPG fort while its younger brother gets the $*it beat out of it in the great money hat war. All joking aside it is quite disgusting that RPG's are still a no show on PS3 but I also am looking forward to this one (even though I have not even played my copy of FES yet ) I have so many RPG's in my backlog still yet to finish.

I would like to see Tears make it over here as well, but I seriously doubt that it will happen. Namco won't even give us the Eternal Sonata port and thats a big budget title from a big company. Looks like PS3 RPG fans are going to have a LONG wait ahead of us

Yeah, they started Persona 4 before the PS3 was out, so they just decided to finish it on the PS2. They are already working on Persona 5 for PS3

It may be similiar.

Only game I can find re Persona for the PC off hand is : Megami Ibunroku Persona: Be Your True Mind in 99.

Which is by Atlus, and thus most likly the same 'type' of game.

JAP)10/23 : Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition (PS2)

Is this game the same as shin megami tensei nocturne on the ps2? This is what it was called in america and if it is I will purchase this in a heart beat because they no longer print that version. Maybe it is an enhanced version That would be soooooo cooool.
