My College Theater

Hi all!!! I have been lurking around these forums for a while now and just put some pics up of my set up... Keep in mind this is a college set up and during the summers Ive been in school so when I get a job things will change some...


ie, a new sub, a real tv stand etc. Hope you all enjoy it as I enjoy looking at your wonderful set ups!


Comments are welcome and expected ...I will post pictures of my beginning set up so you can see what ive learned during my days of lurking... I hope to participate more in the forums to continue my learning experience.

good setup, check out my jbl's too. Recently upgraded my sub to a JBL ES250PBK - 12" 400 watt. got it for $300 shipped from amazon. It's a beast, and for the price you can't beat it. Check it out, maybe they have a few left. I also have the S center II and think it sounds great.

Looks great..... is it a basement of house? If it's a living room, you've done a great job of controlling the light, and blacking out the wall.

First off thank you all for your comments! It really means alot Especially after seeing your set ups and gear

This is a townhouse and the far left wall with the rack.....well there is NO WALL ahhahah ....which sucks its just a railing over looking the staircase and front door...


and yes i have tried my best to control the lighting situation...the only problem is when i go outside and its sunny...well lets just say it hurts the eyes

You asked in my gallery how I liked my center - I love it - sounds very natural, especially with hd audio. I don't think you can beat JBL's quality for the price. I got my center 7-8 years ago from crutchfield when they stopped selling JBL, think I paid about $150 and it retailed from them for about $350. I practically stole my center and surrounds from them. My fronts have been going strong since '95 or '96. what's your gamertag- I'll send a friend request.

hahahaha i love it....is that a Pomeranian by any chance... me and my roomate and gf at the time found my dog behind school ...she was a mess, but shes my first dog and shes been wonderful, very loving and not a barker but she loves my jbl's as much s i do

Haha, my dog sleeps right in front of my subwoofer sometimes too. She is a lab and she is terrified of thunder storms. But if I'm watching a movie or gaming during a thunderstorm, she thinks all the noise is from the sub and she will sleep directly in front of it no matter how loud. I don't know how she does it

BTW, nice stuff. Better than what I had in college, that's for sure! It'll be nice to graduate too though, I immediately got a new sub and receiver

added a new gallery with some updated pics....


decided to lower the tv and give place the center on a stand to let it breathe a little ... also put the sub on simple riser

well ive mentioned before that i had been looking to buy a new sub woofer but I went home this past weekend and finally took my kicker sub that was part of my old car stereo and brought it up to school.. it had just been sitting in my room at home for the past 4 years so i thought what the heck maybe i could use it some how..

so i got back to school got it hooked up through a jvc stereo receiver i had in my bedroom...now the sub and box w/o an amp is quite hefty and weighs in at 60 pounds and let me say it really rocks the house... and thats with the volume on the jvc at roughly 30% .. i cant believe how well it works and how much lower it digs than my previous sub which i now have behind the couch, the specs on the kicker l5 say hits as low as 24hz . i feel that its better to use this free equipment and save up for a sub when i have money to spare...so i wont be getting a real sub anytime soon

to sum it up i couldnt be happier, and i find myself enjoying movies ive seen a million times soo much better...

are you using a car subwoofer in your home theater? I have 2 car subs in a box sitting unused and would like to try using them if thats the case, i just didnt think it was possible to use them..

yes sir it is indeed possible...check my pics... i wish i tried to do this years ago instead of letting the sub sit unused
