Default 'Awaken' (Docu-film about the relationship with technology and the natural world)

Quote:
AWAKEN is a documentary film exploring humanity’s relationship with technology and with the natural world. Shot over a 5-year period in more than 30 countries, the film pioneers new timelapse, time-dilation, underwater, and aerial cinematography techniques to give audiences new eyes with which to see our world. AWAKEN is a celebration of the spirit of life, an exploration of the Earth, and an ode to the Cosmos.
Terrence Malick is an executive producer on the film alongside Godfrey Reggio. The entire film is captured “in camera” with no post-production effects used to enhance the image, resulting in an almost surreal level of reality.

The film will be released sometime in 2018.

This film released today on digital and I finally had a chance to watch it. Been waiting for this for the last few years, but was cautiously optimistic based on the few reviews I've seen.

I gotta say, this really is one of the most beautiful films I've seen. It's also a little repetitive and one can't help but to ask "so what" about most scenes. I especially didn't really latch onto any theme about technology and nature, it's mostly just a bunch of pretty pictures strung together. I like it, but it's not quite on the same level as the Qatsi films, Baraka, or Samsara. My appreciation could go up on a rewatch though.

From what I see on social media, a physical disc is supposed to be in the works this summer. It looked dang good on digital as it is (4K and HDR), but a UHD will be spectacular.
