I wish I had every movie made out there on blu-ray right now, but right now I would love to see these movies come out.
Of course I want The Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones & Back To The Future Trilogies. Star Wars Movies, All Disney Cartoon Classics (Like Aladdin, Lion King, etc...), (These are on everybody's wish list that's the main reason why they aren't on this list) Some might want The Karate Kid Movies or the 3 Ninjas Movies(including Me) These Movies I grew up watching and enjoying I consider these the classics since being born in the mid 80's 1. Ducktales The Movie: Treasure of The Lost Lamp 2. Jetsons The Movie 3. Ghost Dad(Bill Cosby) 4. Rose Red 5. Spaced Invaders 6. Camp Nowhere 7. Heavyweights (Fat Camp) 8. The Addams Family (BOTH MOVIES WITH RAUL JULIA) 9. 12th Man (Wayans Brothers) 10.Bingo (BINGO the Dog Movie) 11.Felix The Cat The Movie 12.The Mighty Ducks (TRILOGY) 13.Beethoven (Only the First TWO FILMS) 14.Newsies (Yes this is a musical) 15.Encino Man 16.Sister Act (Both Movies) 17.Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Blew Up The Kid, Shrunk Ourselves(All 3 Movies) 18.Tom and Jerry The Movie(Classic Cartoon) 19.Sidekicks (Chuck Norris) 20.All Mupphets Movies 21.Men at Work (Emilio Estevez) 22.Cool Runnings 23.Hocus Pocus 24.The Three Musketeers (Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland) 25.Super Mario Brothers The Movie 26.Free Willy Trilogy 27.Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey & Lost In San Francisco 28.Rookie Of The Year 29.Surf Ninjas (Yup I liked this movie)(Please Don't Hate) 30.Mr. Nanny (Hulk Hogan) 31.Ferngully: The Last Rainforest(Yup this too, cause of Robin Williams) 32.Once Upon A Forest (yup a classic cartoon) 33.Firewalker (Chuck Norris) (I was 2, but watched it as I was getting older) 34.The Flintstone Movie (Live Action) 35.Speed 2: Cruise Control (The First is already out on blu-ray) 36.Little Giants (Ed O'Niell & Rick Moranis) 37.Ritchie Rich (Macaulay Culkin) 38.The Pagemaster(main reason is to see the transfer from movie to cartoon) 39.Angels In The Outfield 40.Neverending Story Trilogy (First is already coming out on blu-ray) 41.Renaissance Man (Danny Devito) 42.Little Big League 43.The Air Up There (Kevin Bacon) 44.Hackers (Angelina Jolie) 45.Casper (Christina Ricci) 46.Jumanji 47.Dangerous Minds (Michelle Pfeiffer) 48.The Mighty Morphan Power Rangers, Turbo: A Power Ranger Movie 49.Man Of The House (Chevy Chase, Farah Fawcett:R.I.P) 50.Houseguest (Sinbad) These are 50 Movies, or more, off the top of my head that I want on Blu-ray I know it's a lot. I saw this film at a local art theater with my bro back in early 2003, not knowing what to expect (only hearing that it was a unique foreign film) and I walked out of the theater thinking to myself, "Wow that was EASILY one of the best movies I've ever seen, maybe the best ever in a theater." Great storytelling, unique/original, amazing cinematography, great action/violence (real not over the top sensationalism or being violent just to be violent), great characters, funny at times, touching, sad...EVERYTHING you could ask for in a movie. This was (Along with Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon in 2000) what got me into Foregin films. Since then Old Boy, Lives of Others (masterpiece), Pans Labyrinth (awesome), Amores Perros, Amelie, House of Flying Daggers (loved it), Kung Fu Hustle, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Let the Right one In (original subtitle version only, not dumbed down US original Blu Ray), Hero, Tell No One, Gomorrah, Akira Kurosawa/Miyazaki/Wong Kar-wai/Fellini/Truffaut/Bergman. Point being is once you really get down to it some of the best movies ever made and City of God should be any foreign film fans top 10 EVER (hands down)
For me, City of God is in my top 10-20 post 1970 movies FOR SURE (non animated as I also love about 5 pixar classics, Fantastic Mr. Fox, etc) in there with Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption, Taxi Driver, Godfather 1/2, Pulp Fiction, any Coen Brother film (Favorite is Big Lebowski which is the only one in my top 10), Lives of Others, Pan's Lab, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon/Hero/Oldboy/House of Flying Daggers, My Cousin Vinny, Thin Red Line, Apoc Now, Jaws (original is still perfect example of tension), Braveheart, LA Confidential, etc. My favorite movie this year is District 9 may be in there also or at least top 30 (along with Up in the Air, Zombieland, Fantasitc Mr. Fox, Up, Hangover, The Hurt Locker, and Inglorious Basterds). OK I'm rambling like Crazy, but I assume most reading everything above would agree that they love most or all above and pretty much all of them (other than Pulp Fiction, Big Lebowski, Thin Red Line, Apoc Now, Jaws, Taxi Driver, and CITY OF GOD are out on Blu Ray! Who agrees all those listed above would be great on Blu Ray, ESPECIALLY CITY OF GOD who has some of the best cinematography EVER put on film? |
