Default Most and least favorite kinds of threads on Blu-ray.com?

What's yours?

I enjoy the ones discussing the movies themselves, not about the PQ or AQ, but the actual movies. I was introduced to a lot of good "not-so-mainstream" titles here on blu-ray.com

I really hate the "help me decide between these movies", they just rub me the wrong way. Clearly, you like both movies or are interested in watching both, why not buy/rent one this time and the other one next time. We don't know what your exact taste is, and it's like we have to spend time to write stuff to justify your own purchase, which is kinda bull****. Besides half the time you would end up having some suggesting one title, and some suggesting the other, ultimately making the thread meaningless. It gets even worse when the poster makes a POLL! It's not a life-altering situation here. Would you make a poll for your friends to see if you want to marry someone?
It's definitely not the same as asking for recommendation.

Funny idea for a thread. I pretty much hate all polls, but every once in a while I participate in one.

I like reading and learning about improving home theater audio and video, probably more so than any other type of thread. I like helping, too, but I am rarely an expert at anything when compared to some of the gurus here so I usually just observe and read.

I actually kind of enjoy seeing what people have to think about the PQ and AQ of a Blu-ray movie, especially when they're comparing it to its DVD counterpart. In my mind it's always interesting to hear peoples' perspectives on this topic.

i'm a fan of the threads for individual movies...ie: avengers, iron man 2, etc.

anytime i see them @ the top of the list i'm hopeful for new news on them!!

i hate the "why blu" or "i don't see any difference" threads.

My 2 least favorite kinds of threads on this forum:

1) I have $20, should I buy A or B? (also I have a gift card, what should I buy)?

2) Is it worth buying Title X on Blu-ray?

Seriously, I wish I had the power to annihilate both kinds of threads and redirect the user to the reviews.

While we're on it, my least favorite kind of post is {quote}{/quote}

My favourite threads are those having to do with the AUDIO side of HT or 2-channel systems. Also any threads that are MUSIC RELATED.

The "What should I buy" threads can be annoying, but I understand that people are looking for confirmation of their choices or really want an opinion on something they know little about.

Although I've been guilty of starting a few nonsense threads over the years, there seems to be an influx of even worse ones than the ones I started. The "Off Topic" threads kill me sometimes.

I'm not much attracted to the threads that are highly "technical" in nature. It's not something I understand or have interest in understanding.

I like the member "Here's my HT setup!" kind of thread. It gives people a personal space to call their own, a space of which they're proud and want to share with the rest of us. They're cool.

And lastly, I love those threads that you just know are going to get shut down! And I've been guilty of occasionally fuelling the fire!

John

PS~ This is kind of a cool thread! I'll be following it to see what others have to say. Good job!
