Default Region Free BD Players

Can anyone recommend a good quality region free BD player? Other than the OPPO?

Thanks!

http://www.stegen.com/index.php
this is one website I've seen that is offering mods on a variety of players. The OPPO BDP-83 isn't region free but can also be moded for region free and the only actual region free player I've read about that is for sale is the Momitsu BDP-899.
This is a link for the dvd hack for the samsung:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/samsung-bd-p1500/9441

This is from another thread in the forum with some players I haven't heard anything about:
If you don't want to spend a load of money the Curtis Mathes BD player is region free for both Blu-Rays and DVDs and is a Momitsu clone. Target has it online for $99.

Other, similar players are the Sherwood 503 and Vision Quest which Tiger direct sells -- both are about $150-$175.

All three function just like the Momitsu and use the exact same region free hacks. If you want you can also put the Momitsu firmware on them (though you'd have to use a universal remote running Momitsu's remote codes if you want to use the remote after doing that).

EWSJR pretty much said it all!

I own the vqm-1000 and I love it!!

You just enter a 6 digit code and your all set!

Being able to play Blu's from any region is the best thing ever!!

This whole region restriction code system sucks HUGE.

Why can't the Movie Industry follow the Music Industry in this regard. Vinyl is Vinyl. CD's are CD's. SA-CD's are SA-CD's....and they can all be played anywhere and everywhere!

I totally agree with you and I will probably get bashed if I say this, but initially I liked HD-DVD better for this sole reason (which I still believe is also one of the main reasons that Blu-ray got more support from the studios/manufacturers and won the battle). Anyway, let's look to the future, and buy a modded Pioneer-09 for $2,500, an Oppo for $500, a modded Panasonic for $300, or a Curtis for $100 (in best per budget-group order), based on reviews etc. Just my $0.02.

HD DVD was in the middle of implementing its own region coding system, and you're right, it was a non-negotiable for several studios.

Music would implement a region coding system if the CD allowed for it. Notice how iTunes is region locked

I have not used this site but they are offering several different code-free BD players:

Dear mredman, you keep asking the same question over and over again (in multiple topics), but please read the threads as well, because the answers are in there.

For example, your post #10 came exactly after post #9 which gave you an answer on your question already. If you need more overseas region-free players, try the main chip producer www.bluraymods.com and they ship everywhere, plus have a look at their distributors-list for many other countries. Good luck!
