Default Audio Questions?? Help??

Ok I just received my monoprice optical switch and hooked it up! I have a couple questions for whoever can answer.....

1. Are there any settings on the Directv DVR that I need to change to or adjust for the best optical sound?

2. On my PS3 I presume I choose DTS 5.1 over Dolby Digital right? And if so do I go linear optical or bitstream optical as again I have a LG HTIB and the optical switch?

3. Also on my PS3 there is an option called "Audio Multi Output" do I turn that on or leave it off as it is??

4. Finally on my LG dvd/reciever when I am watchin a blu-ray now, I have to options on aux/opt and they are bypass or virtual. It seems virtual is louder. Which one do I choose bypass or virtual?

Thanks any answers are appreciated!! Got Em!!

You DirecTV box should automatically output through optical and give the you the best possible audio. No further options should need to be changed.

Choose both. You'll want to check all of the boxes except for the ones that are for 7.1 sound setups. Either do that or choose Automatic.

You can leave it off. You'll only need that turned on if you're using more than one form of audio output. You're only using one.

Louder isn't always better. I'm not familiar with that LG HTiB so you'll probably want to give a long listen to each mode and determine which one sounds better. My guess is that you'll want to set it to bypass. What is the model number of your HTiB?

Ok thanks man. I dont know the model number off hand. Also on the Directv DVR I did go through the settings and it did have an option for dolby digital so I put that on cause it was off. And yea i think virtual sounds better than bypass but I will give them both a try when I get home from work. Also in a 5.1 sys when the movie only has speaking parts is it suppose to come out of all the speakers or just the front or how does that suppose to go?? Thanks man! Got Em!!
