I doubt it. Disney has been a solid backer of Blu-ray. With ms's deep pockets anything is possible though.

This is for downloadable content only. No matter what any hd-dud fanbois out there may say. Disney already provides downloadable content to itunes, so the fact that Disney have done it for Xbox live is no big surprise. Lionsgate also supplies content for Xbox live and will never go hd-dud.

Also, if I am wrong please correct me, content downloaded from xbox live can only be viewed via your 360... it cannot be burned to a disc or really shared.

Disney are tru-blu... all the way.

not exactly you can transfer data to-and-from your 360 to your PC don't know if it works for movies or TV episodes so if some1 can do that it won't be a prob and the fact that i h8 the most the guy said M$ will be getting all the latest releases then he stopped and smiled (does that mean Pirates3 nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo)

Stop worrying over this. I have seen several threads on this in the last week and my answer is the same.

Think of MS Live VOD almost like a Pay-per-View on DirecTV HD-DVR. ITs nice to have but I am sure most people would rather buy it. To have the disc, cover art and case.

This is a totally different marketplace for Disney to venture too. Just would also like to mention that lionsgate is on xbox live as well.

Also most people would prefer to own it HD for the fact that it is presented in full HD 1080p, not just 720p, so far that is all Xbox Live offers.

As far as I know this XBOXLive Marketplace provides some kind of region encoding for the studios and effective DRM that Disney probably likes. I find it especially interesting that Microsoft didn't want region encoding in HD DVD (from what I've read from Amir), but provides a form of it for their service that they offer to studios where they really compete with Toshiba to some degree. Seems like that gives them an advantage for the one they control compared to the one where they are more teamed up with Toshiba. Not sure how Toshiba feels about that, but I don't see Disney going to HD DVD just because they are going to release on something that shares some things with DIVX that they seemed to like. Especially after that ad from Disney taking a swipe at HD DVD with, "Disney Blu-ray. Better Than Perfect.".

This is nothing to worry about. Cross-breeding of this nature is going to occur as companies look to a future where downloadable and online media will ultimately be a reality. In my mind (as I have stated on this forum before) this is 10 years down the road in real terms. But it does represent an important business opporunity for which ALL media companies will be positioning themselves.

Just as with Blu-ray, Disney will continue to take leadership positions in other aspects of content delivery.

Kinda funny that they would have region encoding, almost like they didn't want it on optical discs, to promote piracy of optical discs, to help promote vod.
