Arrow Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island Movie Trailer

I've been pretty excited for this - Check out the trailer!

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s novel Shutter Island. The story follows a U.S. Marshal named Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) who travels to Shutter Island, a small island in Massachusetts’ Outer Harbor, home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, to find an escaped murderous patient in the Summer of 1954. And I’ll let the official plot description take over:

Quote:
“But nothing at Ashecliffe Hospital is what it seems. And neither is Teddy Daniels. Is he there to find a missing patient? Or has he been sent to look into rumors of Ashecliffe’s radical approach to psychiatry? The closer Teddy and Chuck get to the truth, the more elusive it becomes, and the more they begin to believe that they may never leave Shutter Island. Because someone is trying to drive them insane. . .”
Beautiful cinematography, hints of wonderful performances, and some really creepy sequences. But is it a thriller with Oscar potential?

The film also stars Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson, and Jackie Earle Haley. Watch the trailer in High Definition on Apple.com. Shutter Island is scheduled to hit theaters on October 2nd 2009.

Looks good. Soon as Departed came out, rumors flew about Shutter Island. Read the book, enjoyed it and pictured the actors in those parts. Good read which moved very briskly. Love Lehanes work. Looks like another home run for Scorcese and DiNiro II (DiCaprio) !

I just don't see Leonardo DiCaprio as being that good of an actor. He still looks younger than he is, and, even though I think he does as good as he can, I just don't think he's that good of an actor. I certainly don't see him as the next DeNiro.

You know, I never much liked DiCaprio, but when I saw him sitting on that park bench in Revolutionary Road, looking lonelier than Jack Lemmon in The Apartment just with his appearance, it occurred to me --

-- he does seem like one of the greats. He seems like one of the few people we will be talking about 50 years from now. He's no Jimmy Stewart, but he's definitely something special.

The movie sounds awesome, can't wait.

Most definitely. When he started his career with things like titanic, I had lumped him in with the rest of the teeny wannabe actors, but he is really is great.

This movie looks great! I Still dont see vinny chase though, hmmmm

The trailer was excellent, loved the supense it generated

I read the book (which was stellar BTW) and they definitely captured the feel of the book and I mean, Scorsese is doing it so it will be great!

I agree. Titanic really hurt his rep amongst the male demographic (myself included). But after that, he really began to take his career seriously and has definitely paid his dues since. He will be one of the greats when all is said and done, but he's still got alot of great roles left in him til then.

Just a point of order, I wouldn't say he started his career with Titanic....I mean what about his role in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? To this day that has to be one of his best performances.

WOW.. That looked great. Not your average Scorsese picture at all.. But I am really tired of Leo's Oirish accent. It sounds way too forced. But its not that big of a deal..I can still enjoy this movie. The cinematography is also very good.

Its like Scorsese directing Saw.. hehe..even though I hate Saw :P
