Exclamation How long should I wait to get Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Loved the movie and thought the transfer was awesome but I'm not ready to buy it because of the lack of features on the blu ray and I have this feeling that there's a longer cut being awaited to be released. I know that when I bought No Country For Old Men in January, the announcement of the special edition was announced. I still have not opened it and am waiting to sell it so I can buy the SE, I don't want to take that risk with BB. It's an excellent movie and I want to see it the best format as possible. I know a lot was cut out and I feel the film could benefit from more footage.

Um...you're kidding, right? There are a TON of extras on the Blu-ray, and the movie is already 2 hours and 45 minutes! Plus, being a joint venture between Criterion and Paramount, I doubt we'll see a more 'deluxe' version any time soon......

Agreed. A longer version is not coming, nor are any deleted scenes. The current blu is as good as blu gets. Buy it next chance you get.

I don't think there's gonna be another version. Wait until there's a good deal, then buy it. Don't spend over $15

Yeah it's long already but Eric Roth was puzzled that the 7th lightning bolt scene didn't make it and I was hoping for more scenes with Benjamin alone
[Show spoiler]after Daisy breaks his heart.
and a more indepth connection between the intro and movie. Basically I'm looking for a way to make the haters appreciate it.

True I'm waiting for it to lower on Amazon Marketplace or another Best Buy deal like they did before with the 13 dollar blu rays. Wish the boxart wasn't so horrid.

I honestly prefer this

And as far as No Country for Old Men, I believe the only difference is the SE has LPCM 5.1 audio and the CE has DTS HD MA 5.1 and a digital copy. Not worth selling the edition you have IMO. They both sell for the same price on Amazon.

This movie was on sale @ Amazon for $14.99 a few months ago and everyone jumped on it. I think it's currently $24.99 or less.

I got mine for $20 when it came out.

This movie out of my collection is one of, if not the best looking BD's movies I have right now.

EDIT: Amazon has it for $19.99

Last week Best Buy had it for $19.99, while Wal-Mart was still selling it for $29.99. Took the Best Buy ad to Wal-Mart and they matched the price on the spot.

the Criterion version is probably as definitive as it's gonna get. I mean, what more do you really need?

BTW, there is a copy for like $12 in the Amazon Marketplace listings...

The screenplay posted by Paramount only contains 6 lightning bolt scenes, that my search function found, anyway.

Once, when I was in a field tending to my cows...

Once, when I was fixing a leak on the roof...

Once, when I was crossing the road to get the mail...

Once, I was walking my dog along a country road...

Once I was sitting in my truck listening to the radio...

Then a generic one at the end, with voice over by Pitt: "Some people... get struck by lightning...” Mr. DAWS being struck by lightning again...

I stated my reasons. A long movie is not the problem, it's how captivating it can be.

If that's the case then stupid Eric Roth forgot to put the 7th lightning scene. Way to act clueless about your own work. I thought it was a mistake on the editing floor lol why would I doubt Fincher?

Ugh I wish they did a better job with the boxart, Criterion is known for excellent boxarts but wtf were they thinking with BB. Anyway I'll buy next time it's on sale. Probably sometime around after Black Friday?

+1...It doesn't get any better than the Criterion collection. It had loads of features. I can't believe you want a longer cut...the move was long enough lol.

Anything that has "Criterion" on the box is going to be the definitive edition of the movie and as good as it gets. I personally am not interested in a lot of the films Criterion releases an edition of, but I am very much a fan of their work. I can't imagine a better product and we were really lucky to get it this way right off the bat. I hope Criterion does more new releases like this.
