The Onkyo or the Yamaha, based on preouts alone.

Keep the Pioneer Elite receiver. Get a (monoprice)HDMI switcher. Then get a cheap Logitech Harmony remote to control it all.

HDMI switchers: http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...01&cp_id=10110

this would work: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2
READ THE REVIEWS, others had same problem as yours & solved it by adding a HDMI switcher, cheap solution

Logitech Harmony remotes: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...versal-Remotes

http://www.amazon.com/s?url=search-a...emotes&x=0&y=0

this would work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16880100714

but I'd go with one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16880111030

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16880111006

This would be cheaper than a new receiver.

Totally agree with Jason's thinking - analog pre-outs are a very worthwhile feature. If you ever plan on upgrading to separate amplifiers, they are a must. A shame your 03TXH doesn't have enough HDMI inputs for you, because it does have multichannel analog pre-outs.

If you'd like to stick with Pioneer Elite, you could always check out the current replacement model for your VSX-03TXH, which is the VSX-23TXH, which offers 5 HDMI inputs (4 on back panel, 1 on front) and 7.1 channel analog pre-outs.

Pioneer Elite Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH Product Page

If you can find one of the very last remaining Pioneer Elite SC-05 or SC-07 receivers out there, I'd recommend those. 4 HDMI inputs on each of those models and of course, 7.1 channel analog pre-outs (pre-outs are a standard feature on all Elite series receivers). Some have found 07s for well below $1000.

Good luck!

I like Zippo's suggestion...get a switcher. The receiver you currently have is way to nice to go through that hassle for a newer but lesser one just to get more HDMI ports. Keep that receiver and get a switcher. Its much better on the wallet too.

Definitely get a switcher, anything else seems like a real waste of money for the time being.

I gotta agree with the folks that say get a switcher. I picked up a 5x1 switcher from MonoPrice because the 3 on my Onkyo 805 were filled up. http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2
Works perfect with all my equipment and now I have 7 inputs for my Onkyo instead of 3! I have a picture of it posted also.

lojack nailed it! Your current receiver is better than its potential replacements.

I just got the 806 recently (upgrading formt he 605) and so far I am very pelased with it. It's nice not having to touch the input button on my TV remote anymore.

The 806 is a fine receiver but I have to agree with the others....keep the 03 and get the switcher.

Do you really need that many HDMI inputs? IF so, I guess you need to look around, and I personalyl would stick with Pioneer. However, if you don't need them, but simply want them, I would stick with the Pioneer you have now.

Yes i need

Since i am over occupies all 3 hdmi port. (Dishnetwork, Oppo, PS3, Tv as output) Future very likely get 360 and hopefully a future wii with hdmi? also not to mention might even need 1 more for hd camcorder for occasional use.

Right now i see that Onkyo 707 has 6 hdmi in which is nice also has thx plus and dolby iiz seems like they got a lot for features but the led screen just look last gen.

Well then just wait, receivers feature sets and technology will only get better. I highly doubt Nintendo will release anything utilizing anything with hdmi until at least 2011.

you have received some very good suggestions, since you mentioned PLIIz as a possible interest I would choose Onkyo and would look into the aggressive street pricing on the 807/1007 models. If 1k is doable go with the 1007, 9 amps@135watts vrs your 7@110, Audyssey MultEQ XT vrs MCACC(a big sonic difference) lots of HDMI inputs, 2 HDMI outputs, PLIIz plus Audyssey DSX another sonic improvement, Network radio and internet streaming and firmware updates, better video upconversion plus ISF calibration controls, DSD for your OPPO.....
