Default battery back-up?

what is a good company that makes battery back-up UPS (what does UPS stand for). for a computer, I would like it to last 20-30 mins. it's on my home theater so I want it protected. thanks.

Uninterruptible Power Supply. Battery life usually depends on load meaning how much wattage your equipment draws on the UPS. I am not really sure on using ups for HT systems as most i have dealt with in the past is for Servers and Telecom applications. If its for pc use i would recommend APC i think they have 1.5 kVa units.

I have an APC J15 for my HT system and a Belkin UPS for my computer and its related networking equipment. Both work fine for how I use them. I highly recommend a UPS for computers for obvious reasons (hard shut downs are a very bad thing). For HT systems, I think UPSs are more of an optional thing with one big exception; DirecTV's DVRs. It is very handly not to have the DVR go into reset everytime there is a power surge or outage. It takes several minutes for a DVR to come back to life after even the briefest of outages; well worth the cost of a UPS for that alone IMO.

Panamax and Tripp Lite also have USP systems.

Most will be rack mount/component style for A/V systems. PC ones tend to be narrow and boxy. Usually a similar profile to a PC tower case.

Cyberpower makes some nice, relatively inexpensive units - they are the tower type - but have nice features and are available at Amazon as well.

I actually need to replace my Cyber Power unit that I have for my computers/routers/cable modem. I lost power last week and noticed that the battery must be bad because nothing stayed on. I've had it since 1999 (I still have the receipt) so I think it is a little out of warranty.
