I've seen GREMLINS many times and I felt that this transfer was by far the best i've ever seen-- far better colors (without smearing like the dvd), some
"pop" in the outdoor scenes like in the beginning, and overall better clarity than in any other version. I think the problem is that the movie has not been given any kind of remaster-- the movie is low budget and it looks like it-- many scenes look "just okay" but that's always how the movie looked. Bottom line I was very pleased by the blu-ray upgrade and it's well worth buying if you like the movie. |

i thought it was a little grainy, like christmas vaction. But what do you expect for a movie over 20yrs old. Compared to the DVD, I gave it an 8 out of 10. Gizmo is still "Caca"& Phobe Cates is still hot!

Here it is.
http://www.hometheaterforum.com/foru...emlins-blu-ray This is from one of his posts- Tony, I will wait for others to chime in to answer that question. I didn't have time to compare the DVD and BD transfers but I am going to guess that this isn't a major upgrade from the standard DVD release. There's nothing extraordinary about this BD transfer other than the fact you do notice the subtle improvements in image quality due to being on high definition. Based on the amount of debris in the print I am guessing this is the same transfer. Even the extras look to be the exact same as the DVD. As I said, nothing special here over what the original DVD probably looked like. Last edited by TheAlphaNerd; 10-10-2009 at 07:01 PM. |

"On a whole, GREMLINS looks very good on Blu-ray and quite representative of how I remember it looking back in 1984. It appears no major remastering was done here. There's nothing eye-popping about this transfer. It still looks like something released from that period without any kind of degradation." |

I'm happy with the transfer.
I do remember though in July's copy of Bluray Review there was a section where Joe Dante said that the Bluray was suppose to come out this year for its 25th Anniversary but they were not happy with the transfer so it will be delayed till 2010. I wonder if Warner said F*** it in the end and released it anyway. |
