Hi guys!!
I have a sixaxis and a dualshock 3 and I want to register my new dualshock, but I want to delete the old sixaxis controller completely so that it won't work with my system anymore. A friend also assigned his rock band instruments/controllers to my system and I want to delete that as well. I know there is a option to reassign the controllers but I want to delete them altogether. Will formatting delete them? Or is there an easier (and quicker) way? ![]() One more small (and perhaps stupid) question: The ps3 BUZZ game has buzzers assigned to a usb stick. These buzzers don't ever get assigned to the ps3 right? They just work from the usb stick? ![]() Thanks for any help! I appreciate it! ![]() |

not exactly sure why you would need to delete it? if you just keep it turned off your new dualshock can always be set to controller one. but if you really don't want it to be able to connect to your ps3, you can connect it to another ps3 using the charger. it will only be able to connect it to the new one then unless you plug it back into yours.

If you wanted to format or just do the restore option it will delete them from your system. I'm not sure if you can delete them from your system since it's just bluetooth but if you sync the Sixaxis to another PS3 then it's wiped from your system. A BT device can only sync to one system at a time so once the Sixaxis is synced to another system it wont work with yours anymore.
Rockband instruments work through the USB plugin (at least my rockband 2 instruments are) so no worries there. Nothing to delete. If the usb controller isnt plugged into your PS3 it has no function with your system. |

when you hook up any given controller, it doesnt actually install anything onto your PS3. If you're getting rid of any old controller, you don't need to do anything, its not like a computer where you have to uninstall it. Just like you don't install anything when you plug a new controller in, it just works out of the box.

Many thanks! That answers my question regarding the usb plugin!
So as far as the controllers go, I can't just delete them unless I restore or format? Darn, that's a pity. I was hoping there was an easier way. I don't really know of another ps3 that I can use to get rid of my old sixaxis. Thanks guys! If someone knows of a way to remove the sixaxis from my system without formatting please add to this thread! ![]() ![]() |

If I register my dualshock in the same slot (1) that my sixaxis was in will the sixaxis be overwritten by the dualshock or will it just move to another slot?

Okay... you are not listening to what we are saying. There is NO REASON for you to "delete" any controller from your PS3. What makes you think this is necessary in the first place?
There are no such things as controller "slots" that you would need to clear. Slots are only being used when the controllers are actually on. If you just want to get rid of an old controller just get rid of it. There is nothing you have to do. |

Controller slots are dynamically assigned when the PS3 powers up, in the order that the controllers are detected. If a controller is not on, it will not use up a slot, even if it is sync'd to the PS3 (I would have thought this is obvious?). You don't permanently assign a controller slot to a controller, ever.
There's never a need to "un-sync" a controller. For wired controllers like a Rock Band drum set, simply unplugging it will make it not use up a controller slot. For a PS3 SixAxis or Dual Shock 3, just... don't turn it on? |

yea if you don't want to use that controller then simply dont turn it on, ur dualshock will always turn on as #1 if u always just use that one
there's no data stored on the ps3 saying what controllers are registered with ur ps3 and options to delete them if u don't want to use them if u don't want to use them ever again and not have them work with ur system, then just don't use them.. some ppl need to understand technology.. |
