Default Help Buying New Plasma

I am looking to get a new plasma tv. Never owned one, always had an LCD. Which is the best to go with for around $1000? After reading this forum alot lately, I am pretty much set on a Panasonic model. Preferrably a 50 inch. I was looking at the G10 and the S1 but I am having trouble telling any differences between these models. Besides getting the internet function on the G10, is this model significantly better than the S1? Or will i experience the same picture quality on the S1?

Sorry for all the questions but any opinions/information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Go for the G10 if you can. It has a much better black level that I've noticed each time I've compared these sets no matter what store I've been in. It also has a THX mode although it can actually be calibrated a little better in the custom mode from what I've read over on avsforum. THX mode is still very good and you can set it and forget about it if you don't want to mess around trying to set it up properly.

The G10 is "THX" certified, has viera cast, and I think more picture options then the S series. I'm sure you can find a 50" S1 for around $1K. When I took the G10 for a test drive a month ago it cost me around $1299 and also came with a BD60 BD player. So if those extra options would come in handy to you then go with the 50" G10. I'm sure some of the Panny owners will provide better info then what I can give
